Sürdürülebilir hayvansal üretimde devenin önemi

Abstract

Bugün artan nüfusunun ihtiyaçlarının karşılamak için farklı kaynakların kullanılması kaçınılmaz bir hale gelmiştir. Dünyada mevcut üretim sistemleri ve çiftlik hayvanları varlığı ile talebin karşılanması hayvanların verimliliğini artırma ve çevre koşullarının kontrolünün sağlanmasıyla mümkün görünse de, çölleşme ve çevresel değişimlere diğer çiftlik hayvanlarına göre daha iyi uyum sağlayabilen deve yetiştiriciliği öne çıkmaya başlamıştır. Devenin çok farklı ihtiyaçları karşılayan bir hayvan olduğu, özellikle kurak bölgelerde yaşayanlar tarafından binicilik, tarımsal faaliyetler, yük taşıma, yarış ve birçok kültürel etkinlik için kullanılırken, aynı zamanda süt, et, yün, deri gibi ürünlere sahip başka bir evcil hayvan olmadığı kabul edilmektedir. Deve aynı zamanda çevre dostu bir hayvan olup, tarım sistemi içinde başta sığır olmak üzere diğer türlere göre daha düşük çevresel etkiye sahiptir. Dünyadaki develerin sayısını doğru olarak saptamak oldukça güçtür. Bunun nedenleri arasında, göçebe insanlar ile meralarda bulunmaları ve zorunlu aşılamalara tabi olmamaları gelmektedir. Özellikle son yıllarda develere olan ilginin ve bilimsel çalışmaların artması gelecekte çiftlik hayvanları içinde bu türün önemli bir konuma geleceğine işaret etmektedir. Hazırlanan bu derlemede deve yetiştiriciliğinin mevcut durumu, sürdürülebilir üretimdeki payı ve gelecekte hayvansal üretime yapabileceği katkıya yönelik bilgi ve öngörüler ele alınmıştır.

Nowadays, it become unavoidable to use different sources to meet the needs of the growing population. Although it seems possible to meet demand with existing production systems and animal assets in the world by increasing the productivity of animals and controlling environmental conditions, camel breeding has begun to come forward as they are better than other animals in adapting to desertification and environmental changes. The camel is considered to be an animal that meets a wide range of needs. Mainly used by people living in arid regions for riding, agricultural activities, load carrying, racing, and many cultural activities, while at the same time there are no other domestic animals with products such as milk, meat, wool, leather. The camel is also an environmentally friendly animal and has a lower environmental impact than other species, especially cattle, within the agricultural system. The number of camels in the world is quite difficult to determine accurately, first for that, they are usually found in pastures with nomadic people and the second is that camels are generally out of control because they are not subjected to mandatory vaccination. Especially in recent years, increasing interest in camels and scientific studies on this subject is an indication that this species will have an important position among livestock in the future. In this review, it has discussed the current situation of camel breeding, its role in sustainable production and the possible contribution to animal production in the future.
