Abstract
The aim of the study was to assess the anxiety and depression levels of the patients who underwent allogeneic and autologous stem cell transplantation (SCT). Total 60 patients were enrolled. The questionnaire form was developed by the investigator. Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS) were also used in comparison to the investigants’ form. The autologous group had higher levels of anxiety before hospitalization and after 30 days than that found in the allogeneic group. The difference of the anxiety level between two groups was found to be statistically significant (p<0.05). In the study, the patients’ anxiety and depression problems were compared with the age, diagnosis, education status, sex and mariatal status. The patients experiencing higher anxiety level was those with aplastic anemia. On the other hand depression level was higher in female patients underwent allogeneic SCT. The difference between these two groups was found to be statistically significant (p<0.05).
