E. Schuyler 'in Türkistan seyahatnâmesindeki folklor unsurları

Abstract

Orta Asya'daki Türk topluluklarını inceleyen, anlatan çeşitli seyahatnameler mevcuttur. Yerli ve yabancı seyyahlara ait bu eserlerden biri de, Amerikalı diplomat Dr. Euguene Schuyler'e aittir. 1877 yılında türkçeye çevrilen eser, özellikle Rusya Türkistan'ı, Hokand, Buhara ve Hive dolayları hakkında genel bilgiler vermektedir. Eser, Orta Asya Türklerinin folklorik hayat ve ürünlerini de sergilemesi bakımından önem taşımaktadır.

We have several books of travel which study and explain social life of different Turkish communities in the Central Asia. Of these books which have been written by Turkish as well as by foreign authors is the one written by Dr. Euguene Schuyler from the USA. The book which was translated into Turkish in 1877 gives detailed information about folkloric life of Turkish peoples living in Russian Turkistan, Khokand, Bukhara and Hive. The above named book is very important because it studies and exhibits several aspects of customs and traditions of the Turkish communities in the Central Asia.
