Abstract
Bu çalışmada, ezoterik film eleştirisi örneği olarak, Dante Alighieri’nin “Şölen” (1307) eserinde tanımladığı “dört katmanlı edebi tefsir” yöntemiyle Alien: Covenant (2017) filminin çözümlenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Araştırmanın kapsamı, genel hatlarıyla Ailen serisinde Ridley Scott’ın yönettiği Alien (1979) ve Prometheus (2012) filmleriyle sınırlı tutulmuş ve Blu-ray sürümlerindeki eklenti içeriklerle desteklenmiştir. Felsefe, mitoloji ve dinler tarihinden kuram ve örneklerle oluşturulan makalenin içeriğinde, filmin –sırasıyla– literâl, alegorik, morâl ve anagojik okuması yapılmıştır. Elde edilmesi amaçlanmış bulgular arasında David’in gizemli ajandasının içeriği, Alien Kozmolojisi’nde Mühendislerin konumu, Walter’ın hikâyedeki gerçek rolü ve Percy B. Shelley’in Ozymandias (1818) şiirinin Alien: Covenant bağlamında naratolojik çözümlemesi ile olası devam filmi Alien: Awakening projeksiyonu bulunmaktadır. Analizin ontolojik katmanları teolojik vizyon, eskatolojik perspektif ve ezoterik ayrımlamayla inşa edilirken, etimolojik bağlantılar ve semantik verilerle desteklenen araştırmanın içeriği neo-Plâtonist ve mültidisipliner bakış açısıyla felsefe, mitoloji, dinler tarihi, edebiyat, sinema ve sanat tarihinden metinlerarası örneklerle zenginleştirilmiştir.
This study, as an example of esoteric film criticism, is aimed to analyze the movie Alien: Covenant (2017) with the “four-layered literary interpretation” method defined in Dante Alighieri’s “The Banquet” (1307). The scope of the research is limited to the films Alien (1979) and Prometheus (2012), directed by Ridley Scott in the Alien series, and supported by the bonus content in the Bluray editions. In the content, which is constructed with theories and examples from philosophy, mythology, and the history of religions, literal, allegorical, moral, and anagogical readings of the film were conducted, respectively. Intended findings include the content of David’s mysterious agenda, the background of the Engineers in Alien Cosmology, Walter’s real role in the story, and narratological analysis of Percy B. Shelley’s poem Ozymandias (1818) in the context of Alien: Covenant, with a projection of the possible sequel, Alien: Awakening. While the ontological layers of the analysis are constructed with theological vision, eschatological perspective, and esoteric differentiation, the content of the research supported by etymological connections and semantic data is enriched with intertextual examples from philosophy, mythology, history of religions, literature, cinema and art history with a neo-Platonist and multidisciplinary perspective.
