Abstract
Serum karsinoembriyonik antijen (CEA) değerleri insan vücudundaki birçok konserde belirleyici olarak kullanılabilir. Elli mesane kanserli olguda kontrol sistoskopisinden önce alman idrar örneğinde radyoimmün assay metodu ile CEA seviyesi tarandı. Olguların hepsinde histopatolojik olarak değişici epitel karsinomu saptadı. Olguların sadece onsekizinde (% 36) idrar CEA seviyesi yüksekti ve bunların onyedisinde sistoskopik olarak görülebilen tümör vardı. Bir olguda ise endoskopi sırasında alınan biyopsi ile kanser tanısı kondu. Serum ve idrar CEA seviyeleri arasında bir ilgi görülmedi. İdrar CEA değerleri ile tümör grade'i arasında ilgi arandı. Olguların % 67'si grade Il, % 22'si grade lll, % .ll 'i grade I idi. Üriner CEA seviyesinin, mesane tümörünün erken tanı, stage veya prognozunu göstermede kesin belirleyici olamayacağı sonucuna varıldı.
Determination of carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) levels in serum can be used as a marker in a lot of cancers of the human body. lt's levels detected by radioimmunassay methods are measured in the fifty bladder cancer patients urine taken prior the check cystoscopy. All of the cases were proved to have transitional cell cancer histopathologically. Only in 18 cases (36 %) the urinary CEA levels were high and 17 of them were having an apparent tumor at the cystoscopy, only one case was proved to have cancer by the biopsy taken at the endoscopy. There was no correlation between the serum and urine levels of CEA. The relationship between the urinary CEA levels and the grades of the tumor was as follows; 67 % were grade Il, 22 % were grade III and ll % of the cases were grade I. As a conclusion, urinary levels of CEA can 't be a marker for the early diagnosis, staging or the prognosis of the bladder tumors.
