Platoncu felsefenin islâm dünyasındaki seyri: Otantik ve sahte eserlerin tercümesi ve alımlanması

Abstract

Bu çalışma, Platon’un eserlerinin İslâm dünyasında alımlanma sürecini ve antik felsefî mirasın İslâm felsefesi geleneğiyle etkileşimini incelemektedir. Bu bağlamda araştırmanın temel amacı, Platon’un hem otantik hem de ona nispet edilen sahte eserlerinin İslâm dünyasındaki tercüme süreçlerini ve etkilerini ortaya koymaktır. Bu doğrultuda Devlet, Yasalar, Phaidon ve Timaios gibi otantik eserlerle birlikte Vasiyyetü Eflâtûn, el-Uhûdu’l-Yûnâniyye ve Risâle Eflâtûn ilâ Furfuryûs gibi sahte eserler incelenmiştir. Yunanca-Süryânîce ve Yunanca-Arapça tercüme geleneklerinin Platon düşüncesinin İslâm felsefesindeki alımlanma sürecine etkilerini merkeze alan çalışma, bu süreçte ortaya çıkan tercüme eğilimlerini tartışmaktadır. Çalışma, İslâm filozoflarının Platon’un eserlerini hangi açılardan ele aldığı ve özellikle siyaset felsefesi bağlamındaki etkileri incelenmektedir. Platon’un siyaset felsefesi, Devlet ve Yasalar eserleri aracılığıyla İslâm siyaset felsefesine yön vermiş; Aristoteles’in Politika’sına erişimin sınırlı olması da bu etkinin artmasına zemin hazırlamıştır. Sahte eserlerin alımlanması, İslâm dünyasında Platoncu mirasın genişlemesine katkıda bulunurken, otantiklik meselesinde farklı yaklaşımların ortaya çıkmasına neden olmuştur. Son olarak bu çalışma, belirlenen eserler özelinde Platon’un düşüncelerinin İslâm dünyasındaki etkilerini daha geniş bağlamda anlamaya mütevazı bir katkı sunmayı amaçlarken, İslâm felsefesinde Platoncu etkilerin kapsamını, sınırlarını ve bu mirasın entelektüel dönüşümünü aydınlatmayı hedeflemektedir.

This study examines the reception of Plato’s works in the Islamic world and the interaction between the ancient philosophical heritage and the Islamic philosophical tradition. In this regard, its primary aim is to reveal the translation processes and intellectual impact of both the authentic works of Plato and pseudo works attributed to him. To this end, it analyzes authentic texts, such as the Republic, Laws, Phaedo, and Timaeus, together with pseudo works, including Waṣiyyat Aflāṭūn, al-ʿUhūd alYūnāniyya, and Risālat Aflāṭūn ilā Furfuryūs. By focusing on the role of the Greek-Syriac and Greek-Arabic translation traditions, the study examines the translation tendencies that influenced the reception of Platonic thought within Islamic philosophy. It further explores the ways in which Muslim philosophers engaged with Plato’s writings, with particular emphasis on their influence in the field of political philosophy. Plato’s political philosophy, articulated through the Republic and Laws, provided a decisive framework for Islamic political thought, while the limited access to Aristotle’s Politics further reinforced this Platonic impact. The reception of pseudo-Platonic works, on the other hand, broadened the circulation of the Platonic legacy in the Islamic world but also raised diverse approaches concerning the issue of authenticity. Ultimately, the study seeks to contribute to a broader understanding of Plato’s intellectual influence in the Islamic world by shedding light on the scope, limits, and transformation of the Platonic heritage within Islamic philosophy.
