Abstract
This research aimed to determine the usage status of the flute textbooks used in Fine Arts High Schools, which started to be used in 2019, in line with the opinions of the teachers, the content of the books, the problems encountered in the books, and the suggestions on this subject. At the same time, creating the study group of the research, a convenience sampling method was used. Accordingly, the study group of the research consists of nine flute teachers working in Fine Arts High Schools. In the study, to collect data, a semi-structured interview form was prepared after a literature review, and the opinions of three experts in the field of flute education were taken. In line with all these opinions, the interview form was given its final form. In the research, data were collected face to face and online, and the data obtained were analyzed using the content analysis method. MAXQDA was used to map the themes and codes obtained from the data and professional data analysis software was used for qualitative and mixed methods. In the results obtained; It was determined that the participants used the flute textbooks, found the flute textbooks more successful and sufficient than the previous editions, found the exercises inadequate in terms of “numerical proficiency”. In addition, there are participants who find the exercises sufficient in terms of “content, diversity and systematicity”, while there are also participants who find them inadequate. The participants find the studies inadequate in terms of “content, numerical adequacy, diversity and systematicity,” the works insufficient in terms of “numerical adequacy, genre diversity and systematicity,” and sufficient in terms of “period diversity and originality.” In addition, it has been concluded that there are mostly pieces from all periods, but the pieces of contemporary and Turkish composers are rarely included; more visuals and original editions should be included in the books, and the most common problem is the level of the students or the level of the pieces.
