Problem çözme yöntemiyle öğretimin ortaokul öğrencilerinin fen bilimleri dersindeki akademik başarılarına etkisi

Abstract

Bu çalışmada, 2013 Fen Bilimleri Programı içerisinde yer alan kazanımlar çerçevesinde hazırlanan uygulamalarla problem çözme yönteminin öğrencilerin Fen Bilimleri dersindeki akademik başarılarına etkisinin saptanması amaçlanmıştır. 2013-2014 eğitim-öğretim yılının ikinci döneminde yapılmış olan araştırmada ön test-son test kontrol gruplu deneme modeli uygulanmıştır. Araştırma, örneklemini Bursa ilindeki bir özel okulun 6. sınıfta öğrenim gören 49 öğrencisi oluşturmaktadır. Problem çözme yöntemine uygun olarak etkinlikler geliştirilmiş ve bu etkinlikler 25 öğrenciden oluşan deney grubuna uygulanmış, 24 öğrenciden oluşan kontrol grubuna dersler mevcut programa uygun geleneksel öğretim yöntemiyle işlenmiştir. Deney ve kontrol gruplarına “Vücudumuzda Sistemler” ünitesine yönelik Akademik Başarı Testleri öntest ve sontest şeklinde uygulanmıştır. Problem çözme yönteminin uygulandığı 6.sınıf öğrencilerinin ön-test son-test puanlarının arasındaki farkın istatistiksel olarak anlamlı olduğu tespit edilmiştir (p<0,05). Yine deney ve kontrol gruplarının akademik başarı son test puanları arasında deney grubu lehine anlamlı bir farklılığın olduğu bulunmuştur (p<0,05). Geliştirilen problem çözme yöntemi etkinlikleri hakkında öğrenci görüşlerinin de olumlu olduğu belirlenmiştir. Çalışma sonucunda problem çözme yönteminin 6.sınıf öğrencilerinin “Vücudumuzda Sistemler” ünitesine ait bilgi düzeylerinin geliştirilmesinde mevcut programa uygun olarak yapılan geleneksel öğretim yöntemine göre daha etkili olduğu tespit edilmiştir.

In this research, it was aimed to determine the effect of problem solving method according to 2013 science program within the frame of prepared practices on the students’ academic success. Pre-test and post-test control group experimental model is applied to the study. Research is implemented in the second period of 2013-2014 academic year. In this study the sample consised of 49 6th grade students. 25 students were experimental group, 24 students were control group. Problem solving method was applied in experimental group and traditional method was used in control group. For both groups the Science Achievement Test about “System in Our Body” was administered. According to the findings, success was significantly increased in the experimental group in which problem solving method was done according to the control group. At the end of work, students’ view is positive about the problem solving method. By the help of this research it’s confirmed that the problem solving method is more effective on students’ knowledge development than traditional teaching method.
