Abstract
Müslim b. el-Haccâc hakkındaki çalışmalar hatırı sayılır miktarda olsa da hâlâ ilgi çekmemiş, ele alınmayı bekleyen pek çok başlık bulunmaktadır. Diğer taraftan mevcut literatürün de ciddi eksikleri vardır. Hadis alanında modern dönemde oluşmuş alt literatürlerin kendi içinde genel bir değerlendirmeye tabi tutularak eksiklerin, ihmal edilen meselelerin belirlenip yapılacak yeni araştırmalara yön verilmesi elzemdir. Ortaya çıkış öyküsüyle Pavel Pavlovitch’in Muslim al-Naysābūrī (d. 261/875) -The Sceptical Traditionalist- başlıklı kitabı böyle bir ihtiyacın ürünüdür. Bu yazının konusu Pavlovitch’in literatürle hesaplaşan, eksiklere yoğunlaşan ve yeni alanlara kapılar açan hacimli çalışmasıdır.
Although there is a considerable amount of work on Muslim b. al-Ḥajjāj, there are still many topics that have not received attention and are waiting to be addressed. On the other hand, the existing literature also has serious shortcomings. It is essential that the modern sub-literatures in the field of ḥadith be subjected to a general evaluation in order to identify the deficiencies and neglected issues and to give direction to new research. Pavel Pavlovitch’s Muslim al-Naysābūrī (b. 261/875) -The Sceptical Traditionalist- is the product of such a need. The subject of this article is Pavlovitch’s voluminous work, which confronts the literature, focuses on its shortcomings, and opens up new areas.
