Çocuk haklarının kısa felsefi tarihinde ‘çocuklar için felsefe’

Abstract

Bu çalışmada genel olarak çocuk haklarının felsefi ve tarihi gelişimine odaklanılacaktır. Düşünce tarihinde çocuk hakları son bir yüz yıldır meşru bir inceleme konusu olmuştur. Bu görece yeni ilginin nedenlerini insan ve çocuk hakları bildirgelerinin ilan edilmesinde bulabiliriz. Ancak bundan bile önce Fransız Devrimi’ndeki kadın hakları hareketlerine ve 1989 Çocuk Haklarına Dair Sözleşme’sine doğrudan etkileri söz konusu olan Jean-Jacques Rousseau’nun düşünceleri mevcuttur. Çocukluk safhalarını ve çocuk eğitimini klasik argüman dışında inceleyen Rousseau aynı zamanda 19.yy. daki bir çeşit çocuk kurtuluş hareketine de yön vermiştir. Bildirgeler ve felsefi düşüncede ön plana çıkmaya başlayan çocuk ve hakları konularının özellikle günümüzde demokrasilerdeki önemini ise Çocuklar için Felsefe’nin John Dewey’e götürülen kökeninde inceleyeceğiz. Dewey’in demokrasiyi bir yaşam tarzı olarak görmesinden yola çıkarak hem çocuk haklarının bu kısa tarihinde haklarla edinilen kazanımların tekrar kaybedilmemesi hem de yeni hakların gelişmesi ve gündeme gelebilmesi amacıyla demokratik yurttaşlığın öneminden bahsedilecektir. Demokrasi, yurttaşlık ve çocuk haklarının kavranılması konularının ise Çocuklar için Felsefe metoduyla etkili bir biçimde gerçekleşeceğini ve yurttaşlar arasılığı güçlendireceğini öne süreceğiz.This article will focus, in general, on the philosophical and the historical development of the children rights. Children rights have become a legitimate research subject only for a century. We may find reasons for this relatively new interest partly in the human and children rights declarations of the last century. But even before that, there were the thoughts of Jean-Jacques Rousseau which had direct influence upon the women’s rights movements in French Revolution and the Convention on the Rights of the Child 1989. By investigating the stages of childhood and the education of the child beyond the long-established classical approach, Rousseau had also guided a kind of children’s liberation movement. We will examine the importance of these subjects about children and their rights that coming to the forefront both in philosophical thought and the declarations, especially for today’s democracies through the Philosophy for Children’s origins in John Dewey. Hence moving from Dewey’s view of democracy as a way of life, we will hopefully show the importance of the democratic citizenship both for retaining the already acquired rights in this short history of children rights and possibly having new ones coming into question. Lastly, we will suggest that the cognation of concepts as democracy, citizenship and the rights of children would be effectively possible through the Philosophy for Children methodology and reinforced by the inter-citizens themselves.
