Bu araştırmanın amacı otizm spektrum bozukluğu (OSB) olan bireylere el yıkama becerisinin öğretiminde ipucunun giderek azaltılması yönteminin etkililiğini incelemektir. Bu amaç doğrultusunda yaşı on bir ve on iki arasında olan iki erkek öğrenci ile on dört yaşında olan bir kız öğrenciye el yıkama becerisinin öğretiminde ipucunun giderek azaltılması yönteminin etkililiği incelenmiştir. Katılımcıların tamamı otizm spektrum bozukluğu tanısı almıştır. Araştırma tek denekli araştırma modellerinden katılımcılar arası yoklama evreli çoklu yoklama modeli kullanılarak yürütülmüştür. Araştırma katılımcıların kendi okullarında yürütülmüştür. Araştırma sürecinde başlama düzeyi, öğretim oturumları, günlük yoklama oturumları, toplu yoklama, genelleme ve izleme oturumlarına ilişkin veriler toplanmıştır. Elde edilen bulgulara göre otizm spektrum bozukluğu olan bireylere el yıkama becerisinin öğretiminde ipucunun giderek azaltılması yönteminin etkili olduğu görülmüştür. Katılımcıların edinmiş oldukları el yıkama becerisini farklı ortam ve farklı kişilere genelleyebildiği sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Uygulama sona erdikten sonra birinci, üçüncü ve beşinci haftalarda toplanan izleme verilerine göre tüm katılımcıların edinmiş oldukları el yıkama becerisini sürdürebildikleri görülmüştür. Araştırmada velilerden ve öğretmenlerden sosyal geçerlik verisi toplanmıştır. Toplanan bu verilerde aileler ve öğretmenler el yıkama becerisinin öğretiminde ipucunun giderek azaltılması yöntemini etkili bulduklarını belirtmişlerdir.
The aim of this study was to examine the effectiveness of the gradual reduction of prompting method in teaching hand washing skills to individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). For this purpose, the effectiveness of the gradual reduction of prompting method in teaching hand washing skills to two male students aged between eleven and twelve and one female student aged fourteen was examined. All participants were diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder. The study was conducted using a single-subject research model with multiple probe phased probe between participants. The research was conducted in the participants' own schools. During the research process, data on baseline, instructional sessions, daily probe sessions, mass probe, generalization and follow-up sessions were collected. According to the findings, it was seen that the gradual reduction of the prompt method was effective in teaching hand washing skills to individuals with autism spectrum disorder. It was concluded that the participants were able to generalize the hand washing skill they acquired to different environments and different people. According to the follow-up data collected in the first, third and fifth weeks after the end of the intervention, it was seen that all participants were able to maintain the hand washing skills they had acquired. Social validity data were collected from parents and teachers. In these data collected, parents and teachers reported that they found the gradual reduction of prompting method effective in teaching hand washing skills.
