Sosyal bilgiler dersinde dijital oyunların kullanılmasının öğrencilerin akademik başarısı üzerinde etkisi

Abstract

Bu araştırma, sosyal bilgiler dersinde dijital oyunların kullanılmasının 6. sınıf öğrencilerinin akademik başarıları üzerindeki etkisi incelemektedir. Çalışmada ön test–son test kontrol gruplu yarı deneysel desen kullanılmıştır. Araştırma, 2024–2025 eğitim-öğretim yılında Balıkesir ili Sındırgı ilçesindeki Cumhuriyet Ortaokulu’nda öğrenim gören 6/A ve 6/B sınıflarından toplam 45 öğrenci ile yürütülmüştür. Başlangıçta öğrencilerin ön bilgilerini ölçmek için ön bilgi testi, motivasyonlarını belirlemek için Anlamsal Diferansiyel Ölçek ve dijital oyunlara yönelik tutumlarını değerlendirmek için Likert ölçeği uygulanmıştır. Deney grubundaki öğrenciler derslerde uyarlanan eğitsel dijital oyunlar (EDO) ile öğrenim görürken, kontrol grubu müfredata dayalı geleneksel yöntemlerle ders işlemiştir. Süreç sonunda akademik başarı, algı ve tutumlarındaki değişimi belirlemek amacıyla akademik başarı testi, anketler ve ilgili ölçekler aracılığıyla veriler toplanmıştır. Analizlerde betimsel istatistikler, Shapiro–Wilk testi, t-testi, korelasyon ve güvenirlik analizleri (Cronbach’s Alpha, KR-20/KR-21) kullanılmıştır. Son test bulguları, deney grubunun akademik başarı ve motivasyon düzeylerinde kontrol grubuna göre anlamlı bir artış gösterdiğini ortaya koymuştur. Bu sonuçlar, dijital oyunların kullanılmasının sosyal bilgiler dersinde öğrencilerin akademik başarılarını olumlu yönde etkilediğini göstermektedir

This study examines the effect of using dıgıtal games ın socıal studies classe on students' academic achievement. A quasi-experimental design with pre-test–post-test control groups was employed. The research was conducted during the 2024–2025 academic year with a total of 45 students from the 6/A and 6/B classes of Cumhuriyet Secondary School in Sındırgı, Balıkesir. At the beginning of the study, a prior knowledge test was administered to measure students’ background knowledge, a Semantic Differential Scale was applied to determine their motivation, and a Likert-type scale was employed to evaluate their attitudes toward digital games. During the implementation, the experimental group was taught using educational digital games adapted for the lessons, while the control group received instruction through traditional curriculum-based methods. At the end of the process, data were collected through an academic achievement test, questionnaires, and relevant scales to determine changes in achievement, perceptions, and attitudes. Descriptive statistics, the Shapiro–Wilk test, t-test, correlation, and reliability analyses (Cronbach’s Alpha, KR-20/KR-21) were used for data analysis. The posttest findings revealed that the experimental group showed a significant increase in academic achievement compared to the control group. These results demonstrate that the use of digital games in social studies courses positively affects students’ academic achievement.
