Publication Chylothorax associated with ebstein's anomaly in a golden retriever dog(Ankara Üniversitesi, 2015-01-01) Yılmaz, Zeki; Levent, Pınar; Kocatürk, Meriç; Cihan, Hüseyin; Pars, Elif; Sağ, Saim; YILMAZ, ZEKİ; Levent, Pınar; KOCATÜRK, MERİÇ; CİHAN, HÜSEYİN; Sağ, Saim; Uludağ Üniversitesi/Veteriner Fakültesi/İç Hastalıkları Anabilim Dalı; Uludağ Üniversitesi/Tıp Fakültesi/Kardiyoloji İç Hastalıkları Anabilim Dalı; 0000-0001-9836-0749; 0000-0002-2849-1222; 0000-0003-1544-6438; 0000-0001-8404-8252; ABH-3742-2020; V-5578-2017; AAW-9185-2020; A-9637-2008; DDR-1481-20222-year-old, intact female, a Golden Retriever Dog was presented with the signs of respiratory distress, exercise intolerance, and muscular weakness. A high-grade systolic murmur was auscultated over the tricuspid valvular area. Thoracic radiographs showed an enlarged D-shape heart and free fluid (chylothorax) in the pleural space. ECG revealed small QRS complexes. Doppler echocardiography disclosed severe tricuspid insufficiency with moderate pulmonary hypertension, and tricuspid leaflets also were displaced down into the right ventricle, substantiating Ebstein's anomaly. Five-weeks after the medical therapy, patient died at home. The owner of the patient refused the necropsy. This is the first case report of tricuspid dysplasia and Ebstein's anomaly along with chylothorax in dogs.Publication Salt poisoning in beef cattle - response(Comparative Toxicology Lab, 2004-04-01) Şentürk, Sezgin; Cihan, Hüseyin; ŞENTÜRK, SEZGİN; CİHAN, HÜSEYİN; Uludağ Üniversitesi/Veteriner Fakültesi/Dahili Tıp Bölümü; ABH-3742-2020; FWC-2264-2022Publication Comparison of beta-hydroxybutyrate levels in the first three weeks after calving in four healthy different breeds of cows(Bursa Uludağ Üniversitesi, 2023-01-18) CİHAN, HÜSEYİN; KASAP, SEVİM; ŞENTÜRK, SEZGİN; Bursa Uludağ Üniversitesi/Veteriner Fakültesi/İç Hastalıkları Anabilim Dalı; 0000-0003-1544-6438; 0000-0001-9501-9983; 0000-0002-2465-9913The objective of this study was to determine the differences between the healthy Holsteın-Friesian, Jersey, Simmental, and Aberdeen Angusbreeds Beta-hydroxybutyrate (BHBA) levels at the first three weeks after calving. The blood samples were collected for analysis between 10-20 days postpartum. In this study, 80 animals were used in different regions in total. BHBA was analyzed by Ketosite® (Ketosite®, Stanbio LabrotoryInc., Boerne, TX USA). Milk fat and protein levels were immediately measured by an electronic milk analyzer (Milkoscan FT1 FOSS Industries, Denmark). Statistical analyses of the study were performed using Sigma Plot 12 (Systat Software Inc., San Lose, CA). The means of BHBA levelswere compared by One Way Anova. As in Holstein cows, blood BHBA levels increased in the early lactation period and also in other breeds. Theresults of this study presented that serum BHBA levels were significantly higher in Holsteın-Friestein cows than in Simmental and AberdeenAngus cows.Publication Assessment of asymmetric dimethyl arginine, cardiac troponin i, thyroxine, cholesterol, and triglyceride levels in obese dogs and dogs with normal body condition(Tübitak Bilimsel ve Teknolojik Araştırma Kurumu, 2019-01-01) Cihan, Hüseyin; Tural, Merve; CİHAN, HÜSEYİN; Tural, Merve; Bursa Uludağ Üniversitesi/Veteriner Fakültesi/İç Hastalıkları Anabilim Dalı; Uludağ Üniversitesi/Sağlık Bilimleri Enstitüsü/Veteriner Dahiliye Anabilim Dalı; 0000-0001-6703-4908; ABH-3742-2020; GDR-9018-2022The aim of this study was to assess serum asymmetric dimethyl arginine (ADMA), cardiac troponin I (cTnI), thyroxine (T4), cholesterol and triglyceride (TG) levels in dogs with normal body condition and obese dogs. A total of 40 dogs (n = 40) were included in the study and dogs were divided into two groups; 20 dogs with normal body condition and 20 obese dogs. The dogs were grouped according to the five-point body-condition scoring (BCS) system. Serum ADMA, cTnI, T4, cholesterol, and TG levels were measured in addition to routine biochemical parameters. Serum ADMA, cTnI, TG, and cholesterol levels were statistically significant between the two groups (P < 0.001, P < 0.001, P = 0.027, P = 0.006, respectively). There was a positive correlation between the serum cholesterol levels and both TG and cTnI levels among obese dogs. It is thought that the findings of this study may help future studies in determining novel biomarkers for obesity in dogs.Publication Changes in choline and cholinesterase in saliva of dogs with parvovirus infection(Elsevier, 2021-01-01) Kocatürk, Meriç; Tecles, Fernando; Yalçın, Ebru; Cihan, Hüseyin; Tural, Merve; Levent, Pınar; Cansev, Mehmet; Ceron, Jose J.; Yılmaz, Zeki; KOCATÜRK, MERİÇ; YALÇIN, EBRU; CİHAN, HÜSEYİN; Tural, Merve; Levent, Pınar; CANSEV, MEHMET; YILMAZ, ZEKİ; Bursa Uludağ Üniversitesi/Veteriner Fakültesi/İç Hastalıkları Anabilim Dalı.; Bursa Uludağ Üniversitesi/Tıp Fakültesi/Farmakoloji Anabilim Dalı.; 0000-0002-2849-1222; 0000-0001-6703-4908; 0000-0003-2918-5064; 0000-0001-9836-0749; M-9071-2019; GDR-9018-2022 ; V-5578-2017; ACP-9956-2022; A-9637-2008; ABH-3742-2020; DDR-1481-2022This study investigated the changes in choline (Ch) and butyrylcholinesterase (BChE) in saliva in canine parvovirosis (CP) as a model of sepsis, and their correlations with these analytes in serum and with other markers of inflammation such as white blood cell count (WBC) and serum C-reactive protein (CRP). A total of 30 dogs with CP were sampled for saliva and serum at presentation, and 10 healthy puppies were also sampled as controls. Salivary Ch was higher in dogs with CP (P < 0.001) showing a positive correlation with CRP, whereas no differences were observed in salivary BChE. This is the first report in which Ch is measured in saliva of dogs and based in the results of this study, salivary Ch could be potentially used as biomarker of the severity of CP.
