A garment made of fabric with elastane is able to stretch by about 10-30% and recovery immediately after release. In the apparel industry, sewing should not prevent the fabric from stretching in the garments made from woven fabrics with elastane. The elasticity of the seams of the garments consisting of elastic fabrics is very important. In this study, it is aimed to examine the stretch and permanent elongation properties of different stitch types of garments made of elastane woven fabrics. For this purpose, 5 different stitch types were selected as lockstitch, zig zag stitch, two thread chain stitch, three thread overlock stitch and five thread overlock stitch, and these stitches were sewn at different stitch densities (3 - 4 and 5 stitches / cm), with different sewing threads (spun polyester, core spun (poly / poly), nylon and elastic sewing thread) with different ticket numbers (80 and 120). The stretch and permanent elongation values of the sewn fabric samples were examined.Publication An investigation into the parameters influencing the abrasion and friction properties of composite yarns containing metal wire(Inst Natl Cercetare-dezvoltare Textile Pielarie-bucuresti, 2016-01-01) Çeven, Erhan Kenan; Aytaş, Hüseyin; ÇEVEN, ERHAN KENAN; Aytaş, Hüseyin; Mühendislik Fakültesi; 0000-0003-3283-4117; AAG-4653-2019; EMH-5235-2022This paper is focused on the selected parameters that influence the abrasion and friction properties of composite yarns containing metal wire. In the experimental study, the composite yarns containing metal wire were produced on a hollow spindle twisting machine according to the method of covering. The composite yarns containing metal wire were produced with seven different cover yarns varying in their raw materials and structures. These were: polypropylene, cotton, polyester/cotton core-spun, continuous filament polyester, continuous filament nylon 6.6, polyester/polyester core-spun, and polyester cut fiber yarns. These yarns were cross covered over stainless steel (SS) wires having two different diameters of 50 pm and 100 pm. The performance tests selected for these yarns were abrasion and friction as because these types of yarns are vulnerable to rubbing. Abrasion tests of composite yarns containing metal wire were performed with a modified crockmeter test instrument while the friction tests were carried out by using a yarn friction coefficient measurement device. According to the results of the statistical analyses performed using the experimental values obtained from the tests, abrasion resistance and friction properties of the composite yarns were affected by the yarn parameters like cover yarn type and wire diameter.Publication Investigation of the comfort properties of traditional woven fabrics with different structural parameters(Inst Natl Cercetare-dezvoltare Textile Pielarie-bucuresti, 2020-01-01) Günaydin, Gizem Karakan; Akgün, Mine; AKGÜN, MİNE; Gürarda, Ayca; GÜRARDA, AYÇA; Çeven, Erhan Kenan; ÇEVEN, ERHAN KENAN; Mühendislik Fakültesi; Tekstil Ana Bilim Dalı; 0000-0003-3283-4117; AAG-4653-2019; AAG-9756-2021Turkish traditional Buldan weavings are known as special fabrics in terms of providing comfortable clothes which are known to be natural and healthy in Denizli. Additionally the lowest thermal absorptivity was observed from 100% cotton Buldan fabrics which give the warmth feeling among the evaluated samples.Publication A research on effect of surface treatment conditions on flammability and water repellency properties of drapery fabrics produced from micro polyester yarns(Taylor & Francis, 2020-03-05) Gunaydin, Gizem Karakan; Ceven, Erhan Kenan; ÇEVEN, ERHAN KENAN; Gurarda, Ayca; GÜRARDA, AYÇA; Akgun, Mine; AKGÜN, MİNE; Mühendislik Fakültesi; Tekstil Mühendisliği Bölümü; 0000-0003-3283-4117; AAG-4653-2019; AAG-9756-2021Flame retardancy and water repellency are frequently applied finishing processes for drapery fabrics. These two treatments should require special attention when they are applied consecutively. This research aims to investigate the effect of sequential finishing processes by utilizing of different flame retardant chemical ratio (0, 60 and 90 g/l) and fluorocarbon based water repelling substance ratio (0, 10 and 30 g/l) on hydrophobic, flammability, air permeability and stiffness properties of the drapery fabrics. According to the results of statistical analyses, it was determined that fabric burning behaviour, air permeability and stiffness properties were significantly influenced from the process types with different finishing substance ratios and from the weft yarn density as well as from the interaction of process type and weft yarn density at 0.05 significance level. Additionally, process type was a significant factor on water repellency of drapery samples however weft yarn density and the interaction of weft yarn density and the process type were not influential factors on water repellency at significance level of 0.05. For both warp and weft fabric directions, lowest damage zone at the length and width with the ignition source was obtained from the samples which were only treated with flame retardancy process without water repellency (90-0 coded process). The most satisfying results in terms of water repellency were obtained from the samples treated with 60-30 coded process where 60 g/l FR and 30 g/l water repellent chemical substances were utilized respectively. Drapery fabrics treated with 60-0 coded process revealed the best windproof feature indicating the lowest air permeability.Publication Research on thermal comfort and moisture management properties of drapery fabrics produced with polyester yarns having different fibre cross-sectional shapes and tio2 amount(Inst Natl Cercetare-dezvoltare Textile Pielarie-bucuresti, 2023-01-01) Günaydın, Gizem Karakan; Chirilâ, Laura; Yelkovan, Sinem; Çeven, Erhan kenan; ÇEVEN, ERHAN KENAN; Fen Bilimleri Enstitüsü; Tekstil Mühendisliği Bölümü; 0000-0003-3283-4117; AAG-4653-2019; EGD-3611-2022This study aims to provide an investigation regarding the effect of fibre cross-sectional shape, incorporated TiO2 amount (%) during polyester yarn production, and the weft density parameters respectively, on thermal comfort, moisture management, water vapour permeability, and air permeability properties of polyester drapery fabrics. Completely randomized three-factor analysis of variance (ANOVA) was conducted at the significance level of 0.05. SNK tests were also performed to observe the means of each parameter. Some of the weft yarn production parameters and the weft density (picks/cm) factors were found as significant factors in some thermal comfort and moisture management, water vapour, and air permeability properties of drapery samples.Publication Investigation of comfort properties of knitted fabrics made of core-spun vortex yarns(Sage Publications Ltd, 2023-01-01) Günaydın, Gizem; Çeven, Erhan Kenan; ÇEVEN, ERHAN KENAN; Mühendislik Fakültesi; Tekstil Mühendisliği Bölümü; 0000-0003-3283-4117; AAG-4653-2019Different yarn spinning methods with different fiber combinations provide an optimization for the consumer requests of durability, functionality, comfort, and price. Vortex yarns and the fabrics produced from these yarns have aroused interest for the last years owing to lower yarn production cost and the satisfying fabric comfort properties. Within this work, core-spun vortex knitted fabrics of three different yarn count (400, 300, and 200 dtex) with six different core yarn type (70 dtex Polyvinyl alcohol, 110/36 dtex/filament polyester yarn, 80/36 dtex/filament polyester yarn, 110/333 dtex/filament micro polyester yarn, 50/96 dtex/filament, 120 dtex staple polyester vortex yarn) and two different sheath sliver types (100% viscose, polyester-viscose blended sliver) were studied. Moisture management transport property (MMT), water vapor permeability, and air permeability properties of those knitted fabrics were evaluated comparatively. Obtained results were statistically evaluated using three-way ANOVA test. It was determined that core yarn type, sheath sliver type, and yarn linear density were generally influential factors on MMT, water vapor permeability, air permeability properties of the core-spun vortex fabrics at significance level of 0.05. Correlation analyses between yarn hairiness and water vapor permeability as well as between yarn hairiness and air permeability were indicated. The conducted work provides an initial phase toward a better understanding of influence of some core-spun vortex yarn parameters on comfort properties of knitted fabrics.Publication Evaluation of some comfort and mechanical properties of knitted fabrics made of different regenerated cellulosic fibres(Korean Fiber Soc, 2021-01-19) Çeven, Erhan Kenan; Günaydin, Gizem Karakan; ÇEVEN, ERHAN KENAN; Mühendislik Fakültesi; Tekstil Mühendisliği Bölümü; 0000-0003-3283-4117; AAG-4653-2019Knitted fabrics with a wide range of fabric construction varying in fibre type, yarn type is frequently preferred by consumers owing to their high comfort properties. The results of experiments also revealed that beside the regenerated cellulosic fibres, new developed collagen peptide added Umorfil (R) fibre may be used as the raw material of knitted fabrics for sport garments with satisfying comfort results.Publication Literature survey on abrasion problem in chenille yarns(Pamukkale Univ, 2006-01-01) Çeven, Erhan Kenan; ÇEVEN, ERHAN KENAN; Özdemir, Özcan; ÖZDEMİR, ÖZCAN; Mühendislik Fakültesi; Tekstil Mühendisliği Bölümü; 0000-0003-3283-4117; AAG-4653-2019Chenille yarns are traditionally used in the manufacture of furnishing fabrics, fashion knitwear, and as decorative threads in many types of broad and narrow fabrics. Chenille yarn has a very distinct weakness-it does not have very good inherent abrasion resistance. When the yarns are in use, clearly the abrasion resistance of the chenille yarn is crucially important. Either during further processing or during the eventual end-use, any removal of the effect yarn forming the beard will expose the ground yarns, which in turn will result in a bare appearance. To avoid this undesirable result, several options are available. Therefore, the studies on this area are about the investigation of the influences of some material types and machine parameters on the abrasion resistance of chenille yarns and fabrics produced with these yarns. In this paper, the experimental studies about the abrasion properties of chenille yarns in yarn, knitted and woven fabric forms are summarized.
