Consumer behaviour refers to the attitude that the consumer shows during the search, purchase and consumption of a certain product. According to literatures, correlated factors such as; economic, cultural, and psychological factors mostly affect the decision of the consumers whether to accept or reject a food product in the market. The purpose of this paper is to identify the main factors that affect consumer behaviour during the purchase and consumption of an existing food product in the market. The recent study shows many significant differences of the purchasing and consumption attitude between undergraduate and foundation degree students. Consumers have become more dependent on their own preferences by observing sensual attributes of the foodstuffs. Moreover, complete understanding of these identified factors is essential in order to develop an effective marketing strategy.Publication A greener future: The addictive role of technology in enhancing ecoliteracy in rural community(Parlar Scientific Publications (P S P), 2020-01-01) ; Özkan, Gülay; Gürbüz, İsmail Bülent; Nasirov, Elçin; GÜRBÜZ, İSMAİL BÜLENT; Bursa Uludağ Üniversitesi/Ziraat Fakültesi.; 0000-0001-6878-1673; 0000-0001-5340-3725; 0000-0002-9711-8368; A-8721-2018; G-7807-2015; GLR-5492-2022; M-4349-2019The present study, aims to develop a valid and reliable measurement tool to determine the nomophobia levels of rural communities. A statement pool has been created by using literature reviews and semi-structured interviews. A 21-item nomophobia scale (NSPS) was developed in consultation with the expert opinion. This questionnaire was first conducted to a group of 40 students Bursa Uludag University. After the readability and clarity of the questions were tested, it was carried out with 400 inhabitants of rural people in Bursa, Turkey. Exploratory factor analysis was applied to the data obtained by the face-to-face survey method. The analysis confirmed the four-factor structure: attachment, avoidance, conflict, and interwind identity. These factors explain 91.93% of the total variance. Kaiser-Meyer-011cin coefficient and Bartlett's test were found significant respectively at .936 and chi 2 (210) = 1536.293 (p < .001). Internal consistency coefficient was found 0.922 for the whole scale and at values ranged from 0.968, 0.952, 0941 and 0.924 for the factors. The statistical analysis indicates that the NSPS scale is valid and reliable; hence can be used to determine the existence and severity of nomophobic behaviour for rural communities.Publication Bursa ilinde tüketicilerin kırmızı et tüketim tercihlerinin belirlenmesi üzerine bir araştırma(Bursa Uludağ Üniversitesi, 2023-08-01) GÜRBÜZ, İSMAİL BÜLENT; Er, Simge; Kadağan, Özgecan; Bursa Uludağ Üniversitesi/Ziraat Fakültesi; 0000-0001-5340-3725; 0000-0002-8011-2699; 0000-0003-0122-4148Kırmızı et, insanların hayatını sağlıklı bir şekilde devam ettirebilmeleri için yeterli ve dengeli beslenme yönünden önemli bir hayvansal protein kaynağıdır. Students' holiday habits were also examined in the second part and their participation in statements related to rural tourism was analysed in the third part of the research. It is concluded that Azerbaijan has rich rural tourism potential and can be an important source of income if used correctly and will increase employment opportunities. However, it has been observed that there were problems with infrastructure, transportation, promotion and financing in rural tourism and that the work of the Ministry of Tourism was insufficient. Communication and cooperation between the institutions affiliated to the Ministry were weak. Rural tourism has been accused of accelerating cultural change and environmental problems.Publication Does agricultural value-added induce environmental degradation? Evidence from Azerbaijan(Springer Heidelberg, 2021-01-13) Gürbüz, İsmail Bülent; Nesirov, Elçin; Özkan, Gülay; GÜRBÜZ, İSMAİL BÜLENT; Nesirov, Elçin; Özkan, Gülay; Bursa Uludağ Üniversitesi/Ziraat Fakültesi/Tarım Ekonomisi Bölümü.; 0000-0001-5340-3725; 0000-0002-9711-8368; 0000-0001-6878-1673; G-7807-2015; GLR-5492-2022; M-4349-2019; A-8721-2018This study empirically analyzes the long-term relationship between agricultural production and carbon dioxide (CO₂) emissions in Azerbaijan using annual data covering the period of 1992-2014. Additionally, real income and energy consumption variables were included in the model in testing the existence of the environmental Kuznets curve (EKC) hypothesis. Autoregressive distributed lag (ARDL) method is undertaken to reveal the existence of the long-term relationship between the CO₂ and its determinants. The ARDL mechanism shows that gross domestic product (GDP) and energy consumption have a positive and statistically significant effect on carbon dioxide emissions. However, agricultural production and the square of GDP have a negative impact on air pollution. Furthermore, when the coefficients of real GDP and squared GDP included in the model were examined to analyze the inverted-U-shaped relationship between economic growth and environmental pollution, the EKC hypothesis was confirmed to be valid. According to Toda-Yamamoto causality test results, there is a bidirectional relationship between GDP, the square of GDP, and carbon emissions. From energy consumption and agricultural value-added to CO₂ emissions, a unidirectional Granger causality relationship was found. Ultimately, the findings suggest that policies and reforms that increase or support agricultural production will help lower the country's CO₂ emissions level.Publication Assessment of labor issues faced by the coconut producer in lanao del norte province(Springer, 2020-01-30) Manaros, Mike; Gürbüz, İsmail Bülent; Manaros, Mike; GÜRBÜZ, İSMAİL BÜLENT; Bursa Uludağ Üniversitesi/Ziraat Fakültesi/Ziraat Bölümü; 0000-0001-5340-3725; M-4349-2019; A-8721-2018; FLZ-4999-2022This article assesses the labor issues encountered by coconut producers. It further reveals that the number of the laborers, size of the land, and the number of coconut tree have a strong influence on the cost of labors.Publication Overview of Turkish agribusiness, strategies and policies(Mendel Univ Brno, 2015-01-01) Tipi, Tolga; Gürbüz, İsmail Bülent; Mendel Univ Brno; TİPİ, TOLGA; GÜRBÜZ, İSMAİL BÜLENT; Bursa Uludağ Üniversitesi; 0000-0002-1090-3639; 0000-0001-5340-3725; M-4349-2019; A-8721-2018; A-8407-2019All people have the right to physical, social and economic access to sufficient, safe and nutritious food that meets their dietary needs and food preferences for an active and healthy life. That means all people have to right being food secure. Unfortunately this is a reality that about 1/7 of the world population are hungry and undernourished and even the food secure nations and individuals have food safety and nutritional problems. The goal for countries is to secure sustained agricultural growth, reduce poverty, and improve food security. Consequently, the average per capita consumption of processed products has increased. Turkish, agro-industrial development is linked to the relative abundance of agricultural raw materials and low-cost labor. Note that, from the point of view of development strategy, one of the most important features of any industry is the degree to which it is able to generate demand for the products of other industries. This phenomenon is known as 'linkage'. An industry may encourage investment both in subsequent stages of production by 'forward linkage' and in earlier stages through 'backward linkage'. The most suitable industries are indeed those that make relatively intensive use of the abundant raw materials and unskilled labour, and have less emphasis on scarce capital and skilled labour. The purpose of this study is to examine the importance of agribusiness in the Turkish economy.Publication Small and medium enterprises: Threats for sustainable rural development(Mendel Univ Brno, 2015-01-01) Gürbüz, İ. Bülent; Tipi, Tolga; GÜRBÜZ, İSMAİL BÜLENT; TİPİ, TOLGA; Uludağ Üniversitesi/Ziraat Fakültesi/Tarım Ekonomisi Bölümü.; 0000-0001-5340-3725; A-8721-2018; M-4349-2019For any nation's economic development, small & medium sized enterprises are considered as powerful engines. Although the number of agricultural enterprises within the family farming category is unknown, the nature of the economic, social, environmental and demographic problems that are faced by the enterprises of this nature and their regional repercussions stands out as important issues. In this study, the agricultural enterprise that uses family labour, completely or predominantly, is examined. Also, rural population and the ongoing trends in rural unemployment is researched. From this perspective, the tendency of family labour against the threats of rural disintegration is discussed.Publication Investigation of mec a gene, virulence traits and antibiotic resistance profiles in methicillin-resistant staphylococcus aureus isolates from dairy products(Wiley, 2019-06-01) ELAL MUŞ, TÜLAY; KARAHAN, HASAN; ÇETİNKAYA, FİGEN; Çetinkaya, Figen; GÜRBÜZ, İSMAİL BÜLENT; Gürbüz, İsmail Bülent; Değirmenci, Gökhan; 0000-0002-3943-0097; 0000-0001-5340-3725; AAG-8248-2021; AAI-1993-2021; AAW-5282-2020; K-1637-2017; A-8721-2018; M-4349-2019This study was performed to determine the prevalence of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) in raw milk and dairy products and the presence of virulence traits in the isolates obtained and to assess their resistance to several antibiotics. MRSA was detected by CHROMagar MRSA II in 148 (22.8%) of 650 samples. Ninety-eight isolates were confirmed as MRSA, 86 of these isolates were phenotype-positive, 9 were phenotype/mecA-positive, and 3 were phenotype-negative but mecA-positive. However, the virulence genes were not found in any MRSA strains. According to the results of antibiotic susceptibility tests, 100, 44.9, and 29.6% of strains were resistant to penicillin, tetracycline, and clindamycin, respectively. A low prevalence (1.02%) of resistance was observed against vancomycin and chloramphenicol antibiotics. Furthermore, multidrug resistance was seen among MRSA strains isolated from cheese, butter and buttercream samples. In contrast with other studies, we identified a high-level vancomycin-resistant MRSA strain in one buttercream sample and the intermediate-level vancomycin resistance in six different multiple-resistant MRSA strains from food of dairy origin. Practical applications Recently, MRSA has been isolated from foods of animal origin and become one of the rising public health concerns worldwide. This study focused on the prevalence of MRSA in raw milk and dairy products, the presence of genes encoding virulence factors that allow it to cause the disease and their antibiotic susceptibility patterns. Consequently, we revealed the emergence of resistance to vancomycin and multiple antibiotics among MRSA strains. The isolation of high-level vancomycin-resistant MRSA strain is an important finding because vancomycin continues to be the first-line treatment agent for MRSA infections.
