(Discovery Publication, 2018-03-01) Avdal, Elif Ünsal; Arkan, Burcu; Atalay, Nesil Gönen; Uran, Berna Nilgün Özgürsoy; Pamuk, Barış Önder; Özyazıcıoğlu, Nurcan; Çınar, Havva Gökdere; ARKAN, BURCU; ÖZYAZICIOĞLU, NURCAN; Çınar, Havva Gökdere; Uludağ Üniversitesi/Sağlık Yüksekokulu/Hemşirelik Bölümü.; EKJ-6560-2022; AAI-6835-2021; IJR-3146-2023
Objective: This study aims to identify the association between the nutritional habits of patients with type 2 diabetes and their HbA1c levels, and to determine the influences of nutritional habits on HbA1c levels. Methods: This descriptive, correlational, cross-sectional study was based on Type 2 diabetes and nutritional habits. A total of 110 individuals with type 1 diabetes were randomly selected from Uludag University Hospital, Bursa, Turkey. The sample power was found to be 92%. The data collection tools were an Information Form for Diabetes Patients and a Nutritional Habits Form. The study data were analyzed with descriptive, Pearson correlation and multiple regression statistics. Results: The study results illustrated a statistically significant relation between the HbA1c levels and nutritional habits of diabetes patients (r = -.88) and further suggested that 72% of changes in HbA1c levels may result from patients' nutritional habits (R2:.72, p=.000).Conclusion: Diabetes patients can better manage a nutritional therapy and control HbA1c levels when their nutritional habits have been identified in detail. Nutritional habits are proven to be influential in maintaining glycemic control, which consequently emphasizes the significance of the nutritional habits of patients with diabetes. In summary, this small-scale cross-sectional study indicates the potential role of nutritional habits in glycemic control.

Clinical decision-making levels of nursing students and affecting factors
(Galenos Publ House, 2022-12-01) Arkan, Burcu; ARKAN, BURCU; Çınar, Hava Gökdere; GÖKDERE ÇİNAR, HAVA; Uzun, Rabia; Yılmaz, Dilek; YILMAZ, DİLEK; Bursa Uludağ Üniversitesi/Sağlık Bilimleri Fakültesi/Hemşirelik Anabilim Dalı.; 0000-0001-7269-8493; E-6291-2017
BACKGROUND/AIMS: Although clinical decision-making is an integral part of nursing practice, there are very few studies which investigate the factors affecting decision-making. This study was conducted to find out nursing students' levels of clinical decision-making and their affecting factors.MATERIALS AND METHODS: This research was carried out with a cross-sectional and descriptive design. This research was carried out on 3621st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th grade students studying at a faculty of health sciences department of nursing. The data of this research were collected by using a "Sociodemographic Data Collection Form" and "The Clinical Decision-Making in Nursing Scale (CDMNS)." In the analysis of the data, numbers, percentages, and means were used with Mann-Whitney U test and Kruskal-Wallis test.RESULTS: The mean age of the students was 20.75 +/- 1.91 years, 80.9% of the students were female and 63% were graduates of elite Anatolian or science high schools. The students' total "CDMNS" score mean was 100.81 +/- 18.06. It was found that variables such as grade, gender, the high school of graduation, the number of people living in the family, education and employment status of the parents, having chosen the department willingly, and income and employment status did not affect the clinical decision-making status of the students (p>0.05).CONCLUSION: As a result of this study, it was found that the students' status of clinical decision-making is at a medium level. It is recommended to repeat this study on students studying in different curricula in nursing, on a larger sample group and to analyze the students' level of clinical decision-making in terms of variables such as critical thinking, problem solving and their clinical learning environment.

(Galenos Yayincilik, 2019-03-01) Bektas, Murat; Örtürk, Candan; ARKAN, BURCU; Özyazıcıoğlu, Nurcan; ÖZYAZICIOĞLU, NURCAN; Vural, Pınar; VURAL, AYŞE PINAR; Bursa Uludağ Üniversitesi/Sağlık Bilimleri Fakültesi.; Bursa Uludağ Üniversitesi/Tıp Fakültesi/Psikiyatri Anabilim Dalı.; 0000-0003-3327-8204; 0000-0001-9645-7221; E-6291-2017; AAI-6835-2021
Aim: This study was conducted for the purpose of determining the validity and reliability of the Parenting scale in a Turkish sample.Materials and Methods: The study was conducted as a methodological-descriptive-cross sectional study. The study sample consisted of 355 parents who had applied to Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Polyclinic of Uludag University. However; as 85 parents did not precisely fill the scales, they were excluded from the sample and the analyses were conducted on the basis of 270 parents. The study data were collected using the Demographic Data Collection Form and the Parenting scale. Validity analyses of the scale were examined via explanatory and confirmatory factor analysis. The internal consistency of the scale was evaluated via Cronbach alpha, Spearman-Brown and Guttman split-half coefficients. The relationship between item-total score and item-subscale total score was examined via Pearson correlation analysis. Results: The Cronbach alpha values of the Parenting scale were determined as; 0.935 in the lower dimension of Laxness, 0.916 in the lower dimension of Over-reactivity, 0.770 in the lower dimension of Hostility (use of verbal or physical force) and 0.829 in the total scale. The factor loads varied between; 0.52 and 0.98 in the lower dimension of Laxness, 0.75 and 0.92 in the lower dimension of Over-reactivity and 0.46 and 0.95 in the lower dimension of Hostility. It was determined that the total scale scores and correlations of items in the scale varied between 0.20-0.66. It was also determined that item-subscale total score correlations varied between; 0.61-0.96 in the lower dimension of Laxness, 0.70-0.86 in the lower dimension of Over-reactivity and 0.68-0.91 in the lower dimension of Hostility. Conclusion: The Parenting scale is a valid and reliable tool that can be used in Turkish culture.
