Recreational areas need to be accessible in order to be available and to increase their potential of use, in addition to the fact that they offer various activity possibilities and functionalities. The purpose of the study is to reveal the importance of transportation in recreation and to examine the relationship of transportation with recreational areas and recreational activities. The study was carried out in Bursa and conducted with "Weighted Criteria Method'. The study proposes improvements for accessibility levels and transportation for recreational areas. Araştırmada tarihi bir dokuya sahip olan araştırma alanı, kent kimliği kapsamında mekanı algılama kavramları ile değerlendirilerek incelenmiştir. Kentsel mekanlarda mekanın kent kimliği yönüyle değerlendirilmesinin yanında insan zihninde hangi ölçütlerle olumlu duygular oluşturulmasının araştırılması yönüyle çalışma önem kazanmaktadır. Araştırma alanı, Bursa'da Osmangazi İlçesi’nde bulunan Hanlar Bölgesi’dir. Araştırma; ölçütlerin belirlenmesi için literatür taraması, alan analizi, anket çalışması, verilerin analizi, sonuç ve önerilerin geliştirilmesi olmak üzere beş aşamada gerçekleştirilmiştir. Alan analizi 49 ölçütün değerlendirilmesiyle gerçekleştirilmiştir. 1 ile 5 puan aralığında seçeneklerin bulunduğu bir puanlama sistemi içeren likert ölçeği ile değerlendirilen ölçütler sonucunda 25 ölçütün ortalamanın altında kaldığı, hiçbir ölçütün en yüksek puan olan 5’e yakın olmadığı bulunmuştur. Bu durum Hanlar Bölgesi’nin mekansal algı açısından kullanıcıya olumlu duygular yüklemediğini göstermektedir. In this study, the equilibrium of the distribution of open and green spaces in the city, their competencies, and accessibility about the distance to the user have been indexed and these criteria have been transformed into a common (index) value for the city of Bursa (Turkey). Steps of the method are; determining the presence of open and green space on the neighborhood level on the Bursa urban area, indexing of area size, per capita value, and accessibility as a joint unit, transforming reached findings to GIS-based equal index curves map that identifies open space and green space opportunities. As a result, the ratio of indexed opportunities open and green spaces to the Bursa urban area is 13.74% very good, 28.76% good, 23.32% medium, 15.52% restricted, and 18.56% very restricted. According to open and green spaces types in Bursa, children's playgrounds are the most equipped facilities. This paper provides considerations for urban open and green space planning and improving the current situation in cities for sustainable development. The main problem is that the regulations do not contain anything about outdoor standards, so spaces are designed without considering the needs of children. In this study, 105 spatial indicators were determined together with the needs of children for public green spaces. This study was carried out in urban parks serving the whole city within the scope of outdoor spaces. The status of the selected areas in the study to meet these indicators was examined and it was determined that the place with the best score (62.25%) was Hudavendigar Urban Park, the largest urban park in Bursa. Improvement suggestions have been developed for children by introducing indicators that are not found outdoors. These spatial indicators, which are determined by considering the needs of children, will benefit the process of creating all the spaces where children spend time for well-being.
