Item Çamcağız kaolininin (İvrindi - Balıkesir) jeolojisi ve teknolojik özellikleri(Uludağ Üniversitesi, 1987) Erdinç, Hayri; Mühendislik Fakültesi; İnşaat BölümüIn this study, the Palaeozoic (Pre-Permian, Permian) and Cenozoic (Tertiary, Quaternary) rocks and the kaolin deposit in the location of Çamcağız around Küçük Yenice village of lurindi town in Balıkesir have been investigated. The kaolin deposit of Çamcağız was derived from the alteration of the pyroclastic rocks of Tertiary age by hydrothermal solutions. DTA, X-ray diffractometer and electron microscope analysis of the specimens collected from the pit have confirmed that kaolinite was the chief clay mineral and alunite, quartz and iron oxide minerals were the impurities. The Kaolin reserve of Çamcağız aero has been estimated about 1.273.200 tons (visible + probably) and is currently being used essentially in the ceramic industry. Studies also show that the above mentioned row material can be used in paper pulp which serves as a filling substance. In contrast, kaolin in the Çakmak area contains iron oxide and alunite in higher degrees and therefore can not be used in the ceramic industry without purificotion.
