    Günde bir ve iki öğün süt ile beslemenin buzağıların büyüme performansları üzerine etkisi

    The aim of this study was to investigate effect of once day feeding of milk on the growth performance of calves. The material of this study consisted of 24 Kara cabey Brown male calves. Animals were allocated into two groups (experimental and control) and each group consisted of 12 calves. The two groups of calves were fed with same quantities of milk from birth to four mounths of age. A concentrate (18.02 % Digestible Crude-Protein) and alfalfa (13 % DCP) from ten days to end of the trial was offered freely. The experimental group of calves were fed with milk once day. The control group of calves on a conventional feeding programme received same quantities of milk twice daily. Body weights were recorded weekly. The average body weights of the experimental and control group at birth, I., II., III. and IV. months of age were 42.5, 41.9: 53.5, 53.7: 72.3, 73.8; 94.9, 101.8 and 121.3, 131.7 kg., respectively. The daily Live-weight gain of the experimental and control group at I.. II., III. and IV. months were 356.9, 394.4; 625.0, 640.2: 829.1, 916.6 and 880.5, 997.2 grams; respectively. All differences between groups were not significant. The experimental group of calves were consumed a total of 135.2 kg. concentrate and 27.8 kg. alfalfa more than the control group of calves during the trial. None of the experimental calves had diarrhea, bloat and indigestion. It is conduded that the growth performance of calves was not affected by the treatments.
