The sampling sites were located in two different continents: the Asian part (AS) and the European part (EP). The sampling was performed in AS and EP of the city by using Hirst type volumetric method, and pollen grains of 58 and 62 taxa were identified in the two parts, respectively. The pollen spectrum reflected the floristic diversity of the region. The main pollen producers at the sites were characterized by some allergenic pollen and were identified as Cupressaceae/Taxaceae, Urticaceae, Pistacia sp., Quercus sp., Platanus sp., Fraxinus sp., and Xanthium sp. These pollen types contributed to the total pollen sum with a percentage of more than 80% at both monitoring sites. The highest amount of pollen grains was recorded in April. The greatest number of species was recorded in May, when 42 types (AS) and 44 types (EP) were present.Item Anafilaksiyi taklit eden ilaç reaksiyonu: Lokal anestezik nörotoksisitesi(Uludağ Üniversitesi, 2015-06-05) Özçeker, Deniz; Tamay, Zeynep; Güler, NerminLidokain ve atrikain yüksek etkinlikleri ve etkilerinin hızlı başlaması nedeni ile infiltrasyon anestezisinde, ekstremite bloklarında, topikal anestezide ve intravenöz rejyonel anestezide yaygın olarak kullanılmaktadır. The camps were continued annually around the same time of the year in 1997, 1998, 2000, and in the consecutive years thereafter. The camp includes educational, sports and social activities. Children's knowledge about asthma and their attitudes towards physical and social activities were evaluated by a questionnaire. Pulmonary function tests were performed on the first and last day of the camp. There was no statistically significant difference between the mean spirometric values of the first and last day of the camp in spite of a vigorous physical and social program. Children enhanced their skills and knowledge about asthma and gained self-confidence in participating in sportive and social activities during the camp program. They did not experience any emergency room visit in the following year.Item Intradiurnal variations of Urticaceae pollen in Istanbul(Wiley, 2011-07) Tamay, Zeynep; Güler, Nermin; Ones, Ülker; Çelenk, Sevcan; Altunoğlu, Mustafa Kemal; Malyer, Hulusi; Bıçakçı, Adem; Canitez, Yakup; Sapan, Nihat; Uludağ Üniversitesi/Fen-Edebiyat Fakültesi/Biyoloji Anabilim Dalı.; 0000-0003-4925-8902; O-1244-2018; K-2981-2012Item Kronik ürtiker’li çocuklarda serum otolog deri testi: hastalığın ağırlığı ile ilişkisi var mı?(Bursa Uludağ Üniversitesi, 2020-02-11) Özçeker, Deniz; Yücel, Esra Özek; Çimen, Sevgi Sipahi; Dilek, Fatih; Güler, Nermin; Tamay, ZeynepÇalışmamızda Otolog serum testi pozitifliği ile çocukluk çağı kronik spontan ürtikerinin ağırlığı arasındaki ilişkiyi araştıran kısıtlı sayıda çalışmaya katkıda bulunmak amaçlanmıştır. Item Patients eligible for modulator drugs: Data from cystic fibrosis registry of Turkey(John Wiley, 2020-09) Çobanoğlu, Nazan; Özçelik, Uğur; Çakır, Erkan; Şişmanlar Eyüboğlu, Tuğba; Pekcan, Sevgi; Cinel, Güzin; Yalçın, Ebru; Kiper, Nural; Emiralioğlu, Nagehan; Şen, Velat; Şen, Hadice Selimoğlu; Ercan, Ömür; Çokuğraş, Haluk; Kılınç, Ayşe Ayzıt; Al Shadfan, Lina Muhammed; Yazan, Hakan; Altıntaş, Derya Ufuk; Karagöz, Dilek; Demir, Esen; Kartal Öztürk, Gökçen; Bingöl, Ayşen; Başaran, Abdurrahman Erdem; Çelebioğlu, Ebru; Aslan, Ayşe Tana; Gürsoy, Tuğba Ramaslı; Tuğcu, Gökçen; Özdemir, Ali; Harmancı, Koray; Yıldırım, Gonca Kılıç; Köse, Mehmet; Hangül, Melih; Tamay, Zeynep; Süleyman, Ayşe; Yüksel, Hasan; Yılmaz, Özge; Özcan, Gizem; Topal, Erdem; Can, Demet; Korkmaz Ekren, Pervin; Çaltepe, Gönül; Özdoğan, Şebnem; Korkmaz Ekren, Pervin; Doğru, Deniz; Sapan, Nihat; Çekiç, Şükrü; Uludağ Üniversitesi/Tıp Fakültesi/Pediatri Bölümü; 0000-0002-9574-1842; 0000-0002-7601-8392; FUI-8766-2022; L-1933-2017; 6602156485; 56117061000Background: A better understanding of cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator biology has led to the development of modulator drugs such as ivacaftor, lumacaftor-ivacaftor, tezacaftor-ivacaftor, and elexacaftor-tezacaftor-ivacaftor. This cross-sectional study evaluated cystic fibrosis (CF) patients eligible for modulator drugs. Methods: Data for age and genetic mutations from the Cystic Fibrosis Registry of Turkey collected in 2018 were used to find out the number of patients who are eligible for modulator therapy. Results: Of registered 1488 CF patients, genetic analysis was done for 1351. The numbers and percentages of patients and names of the drugs, that the patients are eligible for, are as follows: 122 (9.03%) for ivacaftor, 156 (11.54%) for lumacaftor-ivacaftor, 163 (11.23%) for tezacaftor-ivacaftor, and 57 (4.21%) for elexacaftor-tezacaftor-ivacaftor. Among 1351 genotyped patients total of 313 (23.16%) patients are eligible for currently licensed modulator therapies (55 patients were shared by ivacaftor and tezacaftor-ivacaftor, 108 patients were shared by lumacaftor-ivacaftor and tezacaftor-ivacaftor, and 22 patients were shared by tezacaftor-ivacaftor and elexacaftor-tezacaftor-ivacaftor groups). Conclusions: The present study shows that approximately one-fourth of the registered CF patients in Turkey are eligible for modulator drugs. As, frequent mutations that CF patients have in Turkey are different from North American and European CF patients, developing modulator drugs effective for those mutations is necessary. Furthermore, as modulator drugs are very expensive currently, financial support of the government in developing countries like Turkey is noteworthy.Publication Proven food-induced acute urticaria and predictive factors for definitive diagnosis in childhood(Karger, 2021-02-18) Aydoğan, Metin; Topal, Erdem; Uysal, Pınar; Acar, Hazal Cansu; Cavkaytar, Özlem; Demirkale, Zeynep Hızlı; Aydoğmuş, Çiğdem; Yakıcı, Nalan; Aydemir, Sezin; Akkelle, Emre; Şimşek, Işıl Eser; Kaplan, Fatih; Arga, Mustafa; Yücel, Esra; Çoğurlu, Mujde Tuğba; Erdoğan, Mehmet Sarper; Tamay, Zeynep; Güler, Nermin; Yeşil, Yakup; Çekiç, Şükrü; Sapan, Nihat; Çokuğraş, Haluk; Kıykım, Ayça; Günaydın, Nursen Ciğerci; Tuncel, Tuba; Orhan, Fazıl; Özdemir, Öner; Özdemir, Cevdet; ÇEKİÇ, ŞÜKRÜ; SAPAN, NİHAT; Bursa Uludağ Üniversitesi/Tıp Fakültesi/Çocuk Alerji ve İmmünoloji Anabilim Dalı.; 0000-0002-9574-1842; L-1933-2017; FUI-8766-2022Background: Urticaria can be the only sign of a food allergy or can be seen together with other signs and symptoms of a food allergy. Objective: To determine the demographic, etiologic, and clinical features of food-induced acute urticaria in childhood. Methods: Patients suspected of food-induced acute urticaria were included in this prospective cross-sectional multicenter study. Results: Two hundred twenty-nine urticaria cases were included in this study. Seventeen patients who did not meet the inclusion criteria of the study were excluded. Of the 212 included cases, 179 (84.4%) were diagnosed with definitive food-induced acute urticaria. The most common foods causing acute urticaria were cow's milk, hen's eggs, and nuts in 56.4, 35.2, and 19% of cases, respectively. The positive predictive value of a history of milk-induced acute urticaria together with a milk-specific IgE >5 kU/L for cow's milk-induced acute urticaria was 92% (95% CI: 81-96%). A history of cow's milk-induced and/or hen's egg-induced acute urticaria was consistent with a definitive diagnosis of food-induced urticaria (Chen's kappa: 0.664 and 0.627 for milk and eggs, respectively). Urticaria activity scores were higher in patients with food-induced acute urticaria (p = 0.002). Conclusion: Cow's milk, hen's eggs, and nuts were the most common allergens in the etiology of childhood food-induced acute urticaria. Although the urticaria activity score provides guidance for diagnosis, an oral food challenge is often essential for the definitive diagnosis of a patient with a history of food-induced acute urticaria.
