Emin; Uludağ Üniversitesi/Necatibey Fakültesi/Kimya Öğretmenliği Bölümü.The dissolution kinetics of ulexite in CO2-saturated water have been investigated with respect to the effects of particle size and solution temperature. The effect of preheating the mineral up to 300-degrees-C prior to contact with the aqueous phase was also examined. The calcination of ulexite enhanced the dissolution rates which reached a maxinium when ulexite was heated to 150-degrees-C. The effects of concentration and pH of the solution, particle size, and temperature were examined. A decrease in pH and particle size increased the dissolution rate, while an increase in the concentration of the solution and temperature increased the rate. The activation energy and pre-exponential factor were calculated as 50.6 kJ mol-1 and 5.14 x 10(7) m s-1, respectively.
