Despite the exact mechanisms of these changes are not known, it is thought that ABT causes a decrease of CD4/CD8 ratio in the recipient. This study aimed to determine the CD4/CD8 ratio in stored erythrocyte suspensions (ES) and to obtain new information about TRIM mechanisms.Materials and Methods: Whole blood components used in our study were collected from 10 healthy volunteers. ES' obtained from whole blood were divided into three equal aliquots. Test samples which were related to 0th, 21st and 42nd storage days were prepared from these aliquots. CD3, CD4 and CD8 surface markers in peripheral blood mononuclear cells were investigated with flow-cytometer in these test samples. Results: Our data were evaluated according to storage days. Decrease of CD3 (p=0,001), CD4 (p<0,001), CD8 (p=0,012) expressing mononuclear blood cells and helper T cells in 21st-day samples, CD4 (p=0,035) and CD8 (p=0,017) expressing cells in 42nd-day samples compared to Day 0 samples and increase of CD3 (p=0,027) expressing cells in 42nd-day samples compared to 21st-day samples were found statistically significant. Conclusion: In our study, we did not find any significant change in the ratio of CD4(+)/CD8(+) cells in ES. Detailed studies can help us to obtain more comprehensive knowledge on this field.Publication Predictors of drug survival of biologic therapies in psoriasis patients (vol 45, pg 813, 2020)(Taylor & Francis, 2020-08-31) Zorlu, Özge; Başkan, Emel Bülbül; BÜLBÜL BAŞKAN, EMEL; Yazıcı, Serkan; YAZİCİ, SERKAN; Sığırlı, Deniz; SIĞIRLI, DENİZ; Budak, Ferah; BUDAK, FERAH; Sarıcaoğlu, Hayriye; SARICAOĞLU, HAYRİYE; Aydoğan, Kenan; AYDOĞAN, KENAN; Cevhertas, Laçin; Bursa Uludağ Üniversitesi/Tıp Fakültesi/İmmünoloji Anabilim; 0000-0001-5555-130X; 0000-0001-6407-0962; 0000-0001-7625-9148; 0000-0002-0193-1128; 0000-0003-2287-3569; AAH-1388-2021; AAH-6216-2021; AAA-7472-2021; F-4657-2014; IZP-9398-2023; AAH-2459-2021Publication Prevalence of HLA-B*57 serotype associated with hypersensitivity reaction in HIV treatment in Turkish population(Wiley, 2021-08-01) Kızmaz, Muhammed Ali; Aymak, Figen; Oral, Haluk Barbaros; Budak, Ferah; Kızmaz, Muhammed Ali; Aymak, Figen; ORAL, HALUK BARBAROS; BUDAK, FERAH; Bursa Uludağm Üniversitesi/Tıp Fakültesi/İmminoloji Anabilim Dalı.; 0000-0001-5334-7911; 0000-0003-0463-6818; 0000-0001-7625-9148; F-4657-2014; K-7285-2012; IZP-9398-2023; HKN-2347-2023Publication Relationship of exosome profile with acute and chronic inflammation in brucellosis(Wiley, 2021-08-01) Şimşek, Abdurrahman; Kızmaz, Muhammed Ali; Ellergezen, Pınar Hız; Bal, Salih Haldün; Bozkurt, Tuğçe; Akalın, Emin Halis; Oral, Haluk Barbaros; Yılmaz, Özer; Budak, Ferah; ŞİMŞEK, ABDURRAHMAN; Kızmaz, Muhammed Ali; Ellergezen, Pınar Hız; BAL, SALİH HALDUN; Bozkurt, Tuğçe; AKALIN, EMİN HALİS; ORAL, HALUK BARBAROS; YILMAZ, ÖZER; BUDAK, FERAH; Bursa Uludağ Üniversitesi/Tıp Fakültesi/İmmünoloji Anabilim Dalı.; Bursa Uludağ Üniversitesi/Tıp Fakültesi/Enfeksiyon ve Klinik Mikrobiyolojisi Anabilim Dalı.; Bursa Uludağ Üniversitesi/Fen-Edebiyat Fakültesi/Biyoloji Bölümü.; 0000-0001-8850-0269; 0000-0001-5334-7911; 0000-0001-5144-091X; 0000-0001-7530-1279; 0000-0003-0463-6818; 0000-0001-7625-9148; IZP-9398-2023; K-7285-2012; AAG-7381-2021; HKN-2347-2023; AAU-8952-2020; F-4657-2014; CPH-1647-2022; KBR-5535-2024; KLE-8588-2024; EHB-5539-2022Publication The age-dependent role of Th22, Tc22, and Tc17 cells in the severity of pneumonia in COVID-19 immunopathogenesis(Wiley, 2021-08) Şimşek, Abdurrahman; Çağan, Eren; Kızmaz, Muhammed Ali; Dombaz, Fatma; Tezcan, Gülçin; Asan, Ali; Demir, H. These hypersensitivity reactions have been shown to be associated with the HLA-B*57:01 allele. High-resolution HLA-B*57:01 scanning has a time and cost disadvantage compared with low-resolution HLA-B*57 scanning. Before starting abacavir treatment, we will discuss whether high-resolution scanning is more beneficial in individuals who are positive on HLA-B*57 screening. This is the study with the largest cohort to investigate the prevalence of HLA-B*57 in Turkey. Methods The results of 25 thousand 318 people who applied to Bursa Uludag University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Immunology for HLA-B* typing were scanned. Results In our study, the HLA-B*57 serotype was detected in 827 (3.3%) individuals. Conclusion Considering these results, it can be assumed that the prevalence of HLA-B*57:01 in Turkey is lower than 3.3%. Instead of a high-resolution HLA-B*57:01 scan in all patients starting abacavir therapy, a high-resolution HLA-B*57:01 scan might be of greater benefit in patients who are positive on a low-resolution HLA-B*57 scan.Publication The relationship between lymphocyte subsets, nutritional status and tuberculin reactivity in continuous ambulatory peritonel dialysis and hemodialysis patients(Oxford University Press, 2021-05) Usta, Mehmet; Ersoy, Alpaslan; Ayar, Yavuz; Budak, Ferrah; ERSOY, ALPARSLAN; BUDAK, FERAH; Uludağ Üniversitesi/Tıp Fakültesi/Nefroloji Bölümü; 0000-0001-7625-9148; JXD-1615-2024; IZP-9398-2023Background and Aims: Skin test anergy is common in patients with uremia and during maintenance hemodialysis treatment. However, up to date only one study concerning skin test in peritoneal dialysis patients has focused on the issue. Our cross-sectional controlled study was conducted to analyze the correlation of purifed protein derivative (PPD) test response with demographical features, nutritional parameters and the distribution of peripheral blood lymphocyte subsets in peritoneal dialysis and hemodialysis patients. Method: Stable 30 hemodialysis (HD) patients (16 men, 14 women) and 30 continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (PD) patients (17 men, 13 women) were included. Thirty healthy cases (15 men, 15 women) with a mean age of 32.4±9.4 constituted the control group. Results: In the HD group, 14 patients (46.6%) were PPD positive, and ın the PD group 16 patients (53.3%) were PPD positive. In the PPD-positive HD patients 64.2% (9/14), and in the PPD-positive PD patients 62.4% (10/16) had an induration of 10 mm or greater. In the control group, 21 of 30 patients (70%) were PPD positive. Comparison of both HD and PD groups with the control group showed signifcant diferences in PPD reactivity (p<0.01). Albumin levels were signifcantly high in the control groups (p<0.01), and cholesterol levels were signifcantly high in the PD and the control groups (p<0.05). Transferrin levels were signifcantly high in the PD (p<0.01). The lymphocyte counts were signifcantly high in the control group compared to the HD patients (p<0.05). The lymphocyte subset percentages CD19 were high in the control groups (p<0.05), and CD16/56 was signifcantly high in the PD groups (p<0.05). All the parameters were also similar between PPD-positive and -negative same groups. Conclusion: The prevalence of PPD positivity was lower in the PD and HD groups. The PPD test responses were not related to the peripheral lymphocyte counts, subsets and malnutrition parameters.Publication The relationship between serum periostin levels, 6-minute walking test and quality of life in patients with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis(Carbone Editore, 2019-01-01) Eken, Özge Aslantekin; ASLANTEKİN EKEN, ÖZGE; Coşkun, Funda; COŞKUN, NECMİYE FUNDA; Demirdöğen, Ezgi; DEMİRDÖĞEN, EZGİ; Dilektaşlı, Aslı Görek; GÖREK DİLEKTAŞLI, ASLI; Ursavaş, Ahmet; URSAVAŞ, AHMET; Budak, Ferah; BUDAK, FERAH; Karadağ, Mehmet; KARADAĞ, MEHMET; Bursa Uludağ Üniversitesi/Tıp Fakültesi/İmmunoloji Anabilim Dalı.; 0000-0003-3604-8826; 0000-0002-7400-9089; 0000-0001-7099-9647; 0000-0001-7625-9148; 0000-0002-9027-1132; AAG-8744-2021; AAI-3169-2021; JPK-7012-2023; AAD-1271-2019; IZP-9398-2023; F-4657-2014; AAH-9812-2021Introduction: Interstitial lung disease (ILD) is a group of chronic respiratory diseases characterized by inflammation and fi-brosis in different patterns at the interstitium, which is the most common form of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF). Considering the prevalence, incidence, and outcomes of IPF, it is important to ensure the availability and validity of biomarkers that can be used in determining the diagnosis and prognosis. In this study, we aimed to assess the relationship between serum periostin levels, pulmonary function tests, 6-minute walking test (6MWT) and quality of life in IPF patients.Material and methods: Our study was carried out with 40 IPF patients who were followed at Uludag University, Faculty of Medicine, Department of Pulmonary Medicine. Spirometer and carbon monoxide diffusion test (DLCO) for respiratory functions, 6MWT and periostin level measurement were performed on the patients, and results were recorded. Results: A total of 31 of patients were males and nine were females. The diagnosis of IPF was made according to the guidelines of ATS / ERS / JRS / ALAT with 25 (62.5%) patients by radiologically and 15 (37.5%) patients with histopathological and radiological features. The mean periostin level was 32.9 +/- 37.57 ng/ml. No significant correlation was found between St. George's Respiratory Questionnaire (SGRQ) score, FVC% predicted, DLCO adj% predicted values, 6MWT distance and periostin level which were measured simultaneously. A negative correlation was found between SGRQ score and DLCO adj% predicted value, 6MWT distance. Conclusion: It has been shown that there is no correlation between periostin levels and the results of the pulmonary function tests, when measured and performed at the same time. No studies are evaluating the relationship between 6MWT and SGRQ scores and periostin levels. In our study, serum periostin level, pulmonary function test results, 6MWT and SGRQ scores were not significantly correlated.
