dc.description.abstractYazın çevirisinde değişim zorunlu bir faktördür. "The Great Gatsby" romanı F. Scott Fitzgerald tarafından yazılmış en tanınmış Amerikan klasiklerinden biridir. Can Yücel tarafından "Muhteşem Gatsby" olarak Türkçe'ye kazandırılan bu romanın çevirisi büyük oranda "özgün çeviri" özellikleri taşımaktadır. Bu çalışma özgün çevirinin kültür, dil, kelime, cümle ve paragraf düzeyindeki kriterlerini dikkate alarak kaynak metin ve amaç metin karşılaştırması yapmayı amaçlamaktadır. Bu bağlamda, amaç metni oluştururken kaynak metindeki "kayıt" özelliklerini de taşıyıp taşımadığı incelenmektedir. İkinci bölümde, metin çevirilerine doğru anlamı yüklemek amacıyla çeviri teorileri hakkında literatür araştırması yapılmış "özgün çeviri" ve J.C. Catford tarafından geliştirilen "Dilbilimsel Çeviri Teorisi'nin" uygulanabilirliğine değinilmiştir. Üçüncü bölümde ise sırası ile kaynak metindeki kültür, kelime, cümle özellikleri bakımından kaynak metin ve amaç metin ömek cümlelerle incelenmekte ve tartışılmaktadır. Paragrafların önemli özelliklerine değinilerek, karşılaştırmalı çalışma ile amaç metindeki kültür ve adaptasyon ile ilgili örnekler üzerinde durulmaktadır. Amaç metnin dil ve kültür özellikleri bakımından kaynak metinden farklı olduğu ifade edilebilir.tr_TR
dc.description.abstractIn the translation of literary texts, change is a compulsory factor during the process. "The Great Gatsby" is one of the most distinguished literary masterpieces in American classics by F. Scott Fitzgerald. Can Yücel' s translation into Turkish of the novel entitled as "Muhteşem Gatsby" abounds in "free translation" and many lingual, syntactical, cultural properties. The purpose is to apply a comparative study of the source text and the target text considering " free translation" and classifying the criteria as culture, lingual, lexical, syntactic and paragraph respectively. It is also observed whether the target text has successfully conveyed the "register" properties of the source text while creating an acceptable text for the target language. In the second chapter, literature review regarding translation theories have been presented so as to furnish proper insight into translations of texts and how to form the free translation and Catford's linguistic theory of translation. In the third chapter, classifications with reference cultural, lexical and syntactic analysis of the target text and source text have been observed respectively and discussed. Important aspects of the "paragraph" to be analyzed are underlined and cultural divergence or adaptations of the translations into Turkish are stressed through the comparative study of the source text and the target text. The Turkish text could be stated as lingually and culturally different.en_US
