Ziyâd b. Ebîh (Hayatı – şahsiyeti – devlet adamlığı)

Abstract

Ziyâd b. Ebîh Müslüman toplumun ilk iç karışıklıklarının cereyan ettiği hadiselerde ön plana çıkarak olayların gidişatını yönlendiren ve "Arap dâhileri" olarak anılan kişilerden biridir. Diğer dâhi olarak nitelenen Muaviye b. Ebi Süfyan, Amr b. el-As ve Mugîre b. Şube'den Cemel ve Sıffîn gibi Müslümanların karşı karşıya geldikleri hadiselerden uzak kalması ve asil bir soydan gelmemesi gibi yönlerden ayrılmaktadır. Hatta babasının belli olmaması sebebiyle tahkir edilmiş birisidir. Ancak buna rağmen yetenek ve donanımlarıyla Hz. Ömer döneminde başlayan siyasî kariyerini Muaviye döneminde zirveye taşımasını bilmiş ve erken dönem İslâm tarihinin dikkat çekici bir figürü olmayı başarmıştır. Ziyâd, Muaviye'nin onu kendi tarafına çekmek için nesebine katarak baba bir kardeşi olduğunu ilan etmesi ile gündeme gelen ve bu bağlamda kaynaklarda ele alınan bir kişidir. Bu çalışma önemli bir tarihî şahsiyet olan Ziyâd b. Ebîh'in biyografisini hayatı, şahsiyeti ve devlet adamlığı bağlamlarında ortaya koymayı amaçlamaktadır. Böylece Ziyâd hakkında kaynakların naklettiği rivayetler doğrultusunda muhakeme ve mukayese yapmak ve dönemin şartlarını dikkate almak suretiyle Ziyâd b. Ebîh hakkında derli toplu ve sistematik bir portre sunulmaya çalışılmıştır. Çalışma ayrıca bilhassa Hz. Ömer döneminden Muaviye döneminin ortalarına kadar uzanan geniş bir süreçte cereyan eden pek çok siyasî, içtimaî, askerî vs. hadiseleri ele alması açısından da önem arz etmektedir.

Ziyād b. Abīh is one of the persons who were prominent figures and drove the process in first internal struggles within the Muslim community and called "duhāt al-'Arab/the genius of 'Arabs". Different from others described 'genius' such as Muʿāwiya b. Abī Sufyān, 'Amr b. al-'Ās and Mughīra b. Shu'ba, he kept himself out of the wars of Jamal and Ṣiffīn. Also he did not descend from a noble ancestry unlike the others, even he was humiliated by being without a definite father. Despite this, thanks to his skills and competences he managed to take his political career that had begun in the period of the second caliph 'Umar to the peak in the period of Mu'āwiya and became a main figure of early history of Islam. On the other, Ziyād was discussed in Islamic sources in the context of 'acknowledgement of paternity/istilḥaq' due to the fact that the caliph Mu'āwiya declared Ziyād to be his paternal half brother. This dissertation attempts to provide a biography of Ziyād b. Abīh as a prominent figure of early history of Islam under the headings of his life, personality and statesmanship. So, it presents a holistic and systematic portrait for Ziyād b. Abīh by examining the reports and information given in the sources on him, then evaluating and comparing them and taking the conditions of that period into consideration. The dissertation, also, is of considerable significance since it deals with many political, social, military etc events that occurred in a wide period, especially, from the period of the second caliph 'Umar to the middle of the period of the caliph Mu'āwiya.
