dc.description.abstractBu makale, 19. yüzyıl Arap rönesansı sürecinde, Batı terminolojisinin hücumu neticesinde Arap toplumunun karşılaştığı dilsel açmazlara çözüm arayan bir Arap entelektüelin, Rifâ’a Râfi’î etTahtâvî’nin ortaya koyduğu stratejileri ele alıp incelemektedir. Ayrıca onun, Batının teknolojik ve kültürel ürünlerini yeniden adlandırmak, ve 1826-1831 yılları arasında Paris’teki -ve sonrasında Mısır’daki- ikameti sırasında âşinâlık kazandığı bir takım fikirleri dile getirmek için başvurduğu “uygun terminoloji oluşturma” çabasına dikkat çekmektedir.tr_TR
dc.description.abstractThis article survey and discuss strategies devised by one Arab intellectual, Rifâ’a Râfi’î et-Tahtâvî, to deal with the linguistic dilemmas that faced his society as a result of the influx of Western terminology during the Arab renaissance of the 19th century. It also explores his search for appropriate Arabic terminology to denote Western technological and cultural materials and to express ideas with which he had become familiar through his residence in Paris between 1826 and 1831.en_US
