Rıza Tevfik Bey’in dinî düşüncesi

Abstract

Makalede Filozof Rıza Tevfik Bey’in dinî düşüncesini ortaya koymaya çalıştık. Lise düzeyinde Türkiye’de ilk defa olmak üzere felsefe dersleri vermesi, o zamanki üniversitede felsefe ve estetik dersi hocalığı yapması, felsefe terimlerinin açıklanmasına yönelik oluşturulan komisyonda yer alması, bir felsefe ders kitabı yazması ve felsefe sözlüğü yazmaya girişmesi, onun felsefe alanındaki yetkinliğini göstermesi bakımından önemlidir. Ancak siyasi ve ekonomik krizlerle beraber devletin içinde bulunduğu sosyokültürel bunalımın topluma yansımasının bir sonucu olarak dönemin Türk aydınlarında görülen fikirsel karmaşanın filozof için de geçerli olduğunu söylemek gerekir. O, gençlik zamanlarında aydınlanma dönemi ansiklopedistlerinin ve ilkçağ şüphecilerinin etkisinde kalmışsa da, olgunluk dönemlerinde öz kültürüne dönerek ve vahdet-i vücûd düşüncesini benimseyerek bu sorunu halletmiştir.

In this paper, an Ottoman intellectual and philosopher Rıza Tevfik Bey’s religious thought will be presented. Important features remarking his competence in philosophy are that he gave lectures on philosophical issues at high school for the first time in Turkey and lectures on philosophy and aesthetics at university, he worked in a commission established to find definitions for philosophical terms, and he wrote a philosophy text book and attempted to write a dictionary of philosophy. However, as a result of the reflection of socio-cultural crisis in society, it is essential to say that ideological confusion experienced by Turkish intellectuals was also influential for the philosopher. Though he was influenced by the encyclopaedists of the Age of Enlightenment and the sceptics of the First Age in his youth, he tried to solve this problem through retracting his own culture and adopting the idea of the Oneness of Being (wahdat al-wujûd) in his period of maturity.
