Abstract
It is scientifically proved and accepted world-wide that colors have effects upon the human soul and that colors effect us psychologically. These effects show differences from society to society, culture to culture, and change according to individual personalities. However it is possible to make generalizations according to societies. One can see that, carpets, woven mats, socks, clothes, tiles, scarves, hand-written manuscripts, and architecture display peoples understanding of color and that they reflect the colors symbolizing the emotions of the people living in that period. The artist while creating his work of art uses his knowledge, observations, experience, thoughts, and worldly affairs. Color is one of the means which the artist uses in order to be able to express all of this. This is the reason why color is accepted as one of the essential elements of art.
