Abstract

Hadis şerhlerini farklı sorularla mercek altına alan yakın tarihli birçok çalışma şerhlerin sanılandan daha orijinal bir faaliyet olduğunu ortaya koymaktadır. Özellikle şerhlerin muhtevası dışına çıkıp şerh-tedris ilişkisi, şerhlerin himayesi, okunurluğu vb. yönlerine yoğunlaşan araştırmalar oldukça başarılı adımlardır. Şerhleri yaygın taslak dışına çıkarak “farklı bir bakış açısıyla inceleme” hedefinde/iddiasında olan yakın tarihli araştırmalardan biri de Sezai Engin’e ait Şerh ve Şârihin İzini Sürmek: Hadis Şerhlerinin Hikâyesi’dir. Bu yazının konusu Engin’in hadis şerhlerinin hikayesini konu edindiği son eseridir.Many recent studies that examine ḥadīth commentaries with different questions reveal that commentaries are a more original activity than one might think. Especially the studies that go beyond the content of the commentaries and focus on the relationship between the commentary and the scholar, the patronage of the commentaries, their readership, etc. are very successful steps. One of the recent studies that aim to “scrutinize the commentaries from a different perspective” by going beyond the common outline is Sezai Engin’s Tracing the Commentary and the Commentator: The Story of Ḥadīth Commentaries. The subject of this article is Engin’s latest work on the story of ḥadīth commentaries.
