| dc.description.abstract | Bu çalışmanın temel amacı, günümüz Türk toplumunun yaşamakta olduğu toplumsal değişim ve modernleşme sürecinin, toplumsal ve tarihsel kökenlerini incelemektir. Bunu yaparken, Türk Ordusu’nun bu süreç içinde oynadığı roller de, sosyolojik açıdan irdelenmiştir. Bu amaç gerçekleştirilirken, tarihsel bir bakış açısından hareket edilmiştir: Öncelikli olarak, Türk modernleşmesinin temellerinin atıldığı, Osmanlı İmparatorluğu’nun son dönemlerine kısaca bir göz atıldı. Sonra da bu belli bir sistemden yoksun çabaların, gerçek bir dönüşüm sürecine dönüştüğü Cumhuriyet dönemine yer verildi. Cumhuriyet dönemi incelenirken de, önce Türk Kurtuluş Savaşı ve Cumhuriyetin kuruluş yılları üzerinde duruldu. Ardında da, Çok partili dönem Türk siyasi hayatı ana hatları ile ele alındı. Ordu, Türk toplumunun en köklü, en güçlü ve en önemli kurumlarından bir tanesidir. Bunun da ötesinde ordu, Türk toplumunun modernleşme sürecinde merkezi kurum olma niteliğine sahiptir. Türkiye’de toplumsal ve siyasal anlamda modernleşmenin kökleri, Osmanlı İmparatorluğu’nun sonlarına kadar uzanmakla birlikte, sistematik ve bütünsel anlamda gerçek bir modernleşme süreci, Atatürk Devrimleri ile başlamıştır. Türkiye’de modernleşme sürecine yön ve şekil veren elitlerin, ordu kurumundan çıkmış olmasının altında yatan nedenleri de bu tarihsel etkenlerin yanı sıra, çağdaş değerlerin Türk toplumuna ilk kez genç subaylar ve askeri okul öğrencileri arasında yaygınlaşmaya başlamış olduğu gerçeğinde aramak gerekir. | tr_TR |
| dc.description.abstract | The major objective of this study is to analyse the roots of Turkish modernisation. İn relation to this, the roles of the Turkish army in this process are examined. To achieve the aim, historical perspectives are used. The modernisation process in Turkey began in the Ottoman Empire. Nevertheless, this process reached its real and certain meaning with the Atatürk reforms. The face of Turkey was turned completely to the west by Atatürk Turkish modernisation was shaped by the Kemalist Revolution. Atatürk defined the form and the way which should be followed by the Turkish people to become a more civilised and westernised society. The central institution in the process of Turkish modernisation was the army. After the abolition of the Janissary in 1826, the military became one of the most Westernised elements in the Empire. Liberal ideas first spread among the military officers and military colleges became the centre of secret political organisations in the mid-nineteenth century. Turkish military elites have always had the aim of representing the new values, behaviour patterns and life styles since the late Ottoman era. | en_US |
