Abstract
Obezite, tıbbi ve psikolojik komplikasyonlara neden olduğundan yalnızca biyolojik açıdan incelenmemesi gereken kronik bir hastalıktır. Obezitesi olan ergenler değerlendirildiğinde bir çok psikopatoloji karşımıza çıkmaktadır. Bizim çalışmamızda, obezitesi olan ve obezitesi olmayan ergenlerin; sosyodemografik özellikleriyle birlikte, duygu dışavurumu, benlik saygısı, yaşadıkları duygusal, davranışsal sorunlar, dikkat eksikliği hiperaktivite bozukluğu, akran ilişkileri, sosyal beceriler ve yeme tutum özellikleri araştırılmaktadır. Tüm bu özellikler, obezitesi olan ergenlerde cinsiyet farklılıkları açısından da değerlendirilmiştir. Çalışmanın araştırma grubunu, obezitesi olan ve obezitesi olmayan ergenler oluşturmuştur. Araştırmanın verileri, Sosyodemografik Veri Formu¸ Kısaltılmış Duygu Dışavurum Ölçeği (KDDÖ), Rosenberg Benlik Saygısı Ölçeği (RBSÖ), Güçler Güçlükler Anketi-Ergen Formu, Kısaltılmış (GGA), Yeme Tutumu Testi (YTT) kullanılarak toplanmıştır. Algılanan duygu dışavurum ve alt maddeleri olan duygusal destek yokluğu, müdahalecilik ve sinirlilik ile benlik saygısı, duygusal, davranışsal sorunlar, dikkat eksikliği ve hiperaktivite bozukluğu, akran ilişkilerindeki sorunlar ve sosyal beceriler açısından obezitesi olan ergenler olmayanlara göre olumsuz anlamda etkilenirken, yeme tutumları açısından değerlendirildiğinde gruplar arasında farklılık gözlenmemiştir. Bu veriler cinsiyet değişkenlerine göre incelendiğinde anlamlı farklılığın oluşmadığı ancak obezite oluşumuyla mevcut patolojilerin karşımıza çıktığı dikkat çekmiştir. Ergenlerde obezitenin varlığı ile duygu dışavurumu, benlik saygısı olumsuz etkilenirken kişilerde psikopatoloji oluşma riski de artmaktadır. Duygu durumu kavramının önemi göz önüne alındığında, hastalıkların önlenmesinde ve tedavisinde yön gösterici olabileceği düşünülmüştür. Bu çalışma obezitesi olan ergenlerde, duygu dışavurumu ile psikopatolojiyi araştıran ilk çalışma olma özelliği taşımaktadır.
Since causing medical and psychological complications, obesity is a chronic disease which should not be considered only in biological terms. Many psychopathological conditions are seen when adolescents with obesity are evaluated. In our study, expressed emotion, self-esteem, emotional and behavioral problems they encounter, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, peer relationships, social skills and eating attitudes characteristics of adolescents with and without obesity are investigated. All these characteristics were also evaluated in terms of sex differences in adolescents with obesity. The sample of the study comprised adolescents with and without obesity. The data of the research were obtained by using Sociodemographic Data Form, Shortened Level of Expressed Emotion Scale (EE), Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (RSES), Strength and Difficulties Questionnaire- Adolescent Form (SDQ) and Eating Attitudes Test (EAT). In terms of perceived expressed emotion and its subscales such as lack of emotional support, intrusiveness and irritability with self-esteem, emotional and behavioral problems, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, problems in peer relationships, and social skills, adolescents with obesity were affected negative compared with adolescents without obesity; while there was no significant difference between groups in respect of eating attitudes. When these data were studied in respect of sex differences, it was pointed that there was no significant difference but the existing pathologies occured with obesity. While expressed emotion and self-esteem are affected negative with the presence of obesity in adolescents, the risk of psychopathology occurrence increases. Given the importance of the mood concept, it was considered that it may have been a guiding light in respect of prevention and treatment of diseases. This study bears the distinction of being the first study which investigates expressed emotion and psycholopathology in adolescents with obesity.
