Abstract
Tanrının varlığı konusu, düşünce tarihi boyunca felsefe ve ilâhiyatın en önemli inceleme alanlarından birini oluşturmuştur. Kendisini çepeçevre saran evrenin arkasında ya da ötesinde, bu evrene varlık veren ve onu idare eden bir Varlığın bulunup bulunmadığı sorusu insanı sürekli meşgul etmiş ve etmeye de devam edecek gibi görünmektedir. Bu soru karşısında insanların iki temel tutumdan birini seçtiklerini söylemek mümkündür. Bunlardan ilki, evreni yaratan ve içindekilerle birlikte onu idare eden bir Tanrının varlığının kabulü demek olan ‘iman’, ikincisi de, böyle bir varlığın reddedilmesi anlamına gelen ‘inkar’dır. Gerek iman ve gerekse inkar yolunu seçenler kendi tercihlerinin haklılığını göstermeyi hedefleyen birtakım temellendirmeler ortaya koyarken, tutumlarının alternatiflerin en rasyonel ve kabul edilebiliri olduğunu iddia etmekten de geri durmamışlardır. Bu makale iman ve inkarda bulunduğu iddia edilen rasyonellikler hakkında karşılaştırmalı bir değerlendirme denemesi sunmayı amaçlamaktadır.
The existence of God has been one of the most important issues that both Philosophy and Theology have been concerned throughout the history of ideas. The question whether there is a Being behind or beyond the universe who has created and governed has always kept man’s mind occupied and still does so. It seems that before the abovementioned question man has generally appropriated for himself one of the two basic and opposite attitudess. The first one is the position of ‘faith’ meaning affirmation of the existence of a God who has created and governed universe whereas the second one is the position of ‘refusal’ of the existence of that Being. Both faithfuls and faithlesses have always produced some reasonings intending to show the accuracy of their own choice, claiming that their own attitude is the most rational and acceptable of alternatives. This article aims to present this ‘reasoning’ with regard to faith and denial comparatively.
