Abstract
Bu çalışma Bursa ili Yenişehir ilçesinde süt sığırı yetiştiren 10 işletmede doğan 135 buzağının doğum ağırlığı, sütten kesim yaşı, süt tüketimleri ve yaşama güçlerini belirlemek amacıyla yapılmıştır. Araştırmada yer alan işletmelerde yetiştirilen Holştayn dişi ve erkek buzağılarda doğum ağırlığı sırasıyla 32 ve 35 kg bulunmuştur. İşletmelerde buzağıların sütten kesim yaşı ortalaması 82 gün, bu süre içerisinde tüketilen süt miktarı ise 419 kg bulunmuştur. Sütten kesim yaş ortalamaları arası farklar önemsiz olmasına karşın, süt tüketim ortalamaları arası farklar önemli bulunmuştur (P<0.01). Buzağıların yaşama gücü büyümenin 0-3 ve 0-6 aylık iki devresinde incelendi. Buzağıların 3. ve 6. aya kadarki gelişme dönemlerinde ölüm oranları sırasıyla % 14.1 ve % 16.3 bulunmuştur. Buna göre bu gelişme dönemlerindeki yaşama gücü ise yine aynı sırayla % 85.9 ve % 83.7 olarak hesaplanmıştır.
The aim of this study was to determine the birth weight, weaning age, milk consumption and the survival rate of Holstein calves raised in the dairy farms in Bursa-Yenişehir district. The birth weights of male and female Holstein calves raised in these farms were found 32 and 35 kg, respectively. The results showed that the average weaning age was 82 days and the amount of the milk consumed during this period was 419 kg. Although the differences among the average weaning age in groups were not significant, that of the average milk consumptions were found statistically significant (P<0.01). The survival rates of calves were studied in two stages of life: The first stage was 0-3 months period and the second one was 0-6 months period. The rates of calves mortalities up to three and six months of ages were 14.1 % and 16.3 %, respectively. The results indicated that the survival rates of calves in both stages were calculated as 85.9 % and 83.7 %, respectively.
