Doğum ağırlığını etkileyen etmenler

Abstract

Biz bu tez çalışmamızda yaptığımız literatür taramaları sonucunda daha önce araştırılmadığını gördüğümüz bir konuya ışık tutmak istedik ve ilk çocuğun evlilikten itibaren ortalama olarak hangi süre içinde dünyaya getirildiğini ve bu süreyi etkileyebileceğini düşündüğümüz değişkenleri belirlemeyi amaçladık. Çalışma verileri, 27.05.96 - 24.10.96 tarihleri arasında İstanbul'da farklı sosyo ekonomik kesim ailelerine hizmet veren 4 hastanenin doğum servislerinde yeni doğum yapmış olan kadınlarla yüzyüze görüşmeler sonucunda toplanmıştır. Görüşülen kadınların büyük çoğunluğunun (%94) ilk çocuğunu isteyerek dünyaya getirdiği; ve evlilik tarihinden itibaren bu ilk doğuma kadar geçen sürenin ortalamasının (19.88 ±18.20 Ay) olduğu saptanmıştır. Bu sürenin ortanca değeri 13.167'dir. İncelenen sürelerin standart sapması gibi, yaydım genişliği (182.233 Ay) de oldukça büyük olmakla birlikte, yaptığımız istatistik analizler, bu sürenin, eğitim, gelir düzeyi, evlenme yaşı... gibi değişkenlerden bağımsız olduğunu ortaya koymaktadır. Bu bulgular, incelenen sürenin, toplumsal etmenlerden fazla, bireysel etmenlere bağlı olarak değişkenlik gösterdiği yolunda ipuçları vermektedir.

In this thesis, we aimed at shedding light on a topic that has not been investigated before, according to our survey of the existing demographic literature: We aimed at finding out the average time elapsed between the marriage and the birth of the first child, as well as the factors which might influence this variable. The data of the study were gathered from the obstetrics wards of four hospitals serving families belonging to various socio-economic levels in Istanbul between 27.05.1996 and 24.10.1996 by means of face to face interviews with women having just delivered. A great majority of the women interviewed (94%) had given birth to their first babies with their own will. It was found out that the mean duration of time between the date of marriage and the first birth was 19.88*18.20. The median value of this time period is 13,167. Although the range of the considered lengths of time was quite wide, the statistical analysis which we have carried out seem to show that this variable is independent of the level of education and of income, the age at the first marriage, the existence of any kinship with the husband and the number of siblings of both the wife and the husband. These findings seem to point out at a greater variability on the interpersonal dimension than on the socio-economic one.
