Journal of Radioanalytical and Nuclear Chemistry, 295(2), 901-905.0236-57311588-2780https://doi.org/10.1007/s10967-012-2206-zhttp://hdl.handle.net/11452/29119We have written a Monte Carlo code to simulate the experimental results of a previously reported study. We were able to analyse the energy distributions of photons that reached the detector system after suffering several successive Compton scatterings in the target. We have also investigated how the number of multiply backscattered events depends on the target thickness and the energy of the primary photons.eninfo:eu-repo/semantics/closedAccessChemistryNuclear science & technologyDetector response functionBackscattering peakCompton scatteringPhoton energy distributionPhotonsWaterSlabsMonte Carlo analyses of multiple backscattering of gamma raysArticle0003137133000132-s2.0-848762879169019052952Chemistry, analyticalChemistry, inorganic & nuclearNuclear science & technologyCompton Scattering; Scatter; Computer Assisted TomographyArticleCompton effectDosimetryGamma radiationMonte Carlo methodPhotonRadiation absorptionRadiation detectorRadiation shield
