World Conference on Educational Sciences Kongresi‘nde bildiri olarak sunulmuştur.Besides the general state of music training applied in Turkey from the Ottoman period till today, music types used in primary schools and junior high schools and their place and importance within the curriculum have been analysed in this research. The research was carried out through the use of the descriptive method in order to put forward the existing state. The resource scanning technique was used as a tool for data collection and related books and scientific articles were analysed. At the end of the research, the view that our traditional tunes are an important factor of our national music education was specified.
