Bu bozukluk hücrelerin, özellikle eritrositlerin daha fazla su alarak hacminin büyümesine neden olmaktadır. Dolayısı ile kan osmotik frajilitesi de ve viskozitesinde bir değişiklik görülebilir. Bu amaçla 15 normotansif ve 15 hipertansif kişilerden alınan kan örneklerinde, viskozite, osmotik frajilite ve hematokrit değerleri tayini yapıldı. Hipertansiflerde nonnotansiflere göre viskozite, osmotik frajilite ve hematokritin anlamlı derecede arttığı görüldü.Recently, Na+-K+-ATPase and Ca2+-ATPase activity disorders tre shown in the cell membranes of hypertensive persons. This disorder leads the cells, especially the red cells to get more water inside and increase their volumes. So, there can be avariotion in the osmotic fragility and viscosity of the blood.
