Abstract
Verileri ekonomide biri kaç türde gözleriz: Çapraz (yatay)-kesit ve zaman dizisi verileri, nicel ve nitel veriler (kukla değişkenler) ve deneysel ve deneysel olmayan veriler. Yatay-kesit verilerine belli bir zaman kesitinde bireysel noktalar-üzerine toplanan gözlemler ile sahip oluruz. Bu veriler çoğunlukla bazı örneklem anketleriyle toplanır. Zaman-dizisi verileri ise belli bir zaman dönemi boyunca toplanan gözlemlerden elde ederiz. Diğer alanlara nispeten zaman-dizisi verileri daha çok ekonomide ihtiva ediyor. Nicel (gerçek)' durumlar sayısal olarak ifade edebilirler ve bazı dönüşümlerle sayısal formalarda verileri oluştururlar. Nitel (gerçek) durumları ise sayısal olarak ölçmek oldukça zordur. Bu nedenle, nicel gerçeklere uygun kukla değişkenler vasıtasıyla sayısal değerler vererek açıklanmaya çalışılır. Deneysel olmayan veriler deneysel kontrol amacını gütmeyen bir sistemin gözlemlerinden tipik olarak gizlenirler. Buna karşılık deneysel veriler kontrol edilebilen bir deneyden bulunur.
The data we observe in economics are of several types: Cross-section and time-series data, quantitative and qualitative data (dummy variables) and nonexperimental and experimental data. In cross-section data We have observations on individual units at a point time.These data are usually collected by some sample surveys."In time-series data we have observations over a period of time. Economics involves a lot of time-series data relative to other fields. Quantitative facts, which are already expressed as numbers, lead directly to data in the form of these numbers on some suitable transformation of them. Qualitative facts, for witches no numerical measure exist, can also be expressed in the form of data. These sort of qualitative facts are typically expressed as numerical data on appropriate dummy variables. Nonexperimental data are obtained typically from observations of a system not subject to experimental control. By contrast, experimental data are obtained from a controlled experiment.
