Abstract
Erken kastrasyonun süt içme dönemindeki büyüme performansına etkisi araştırmak amacıyla A. Ü. Ziraat Fakültesinde 1982 doğum mevsiminde doğan ve doğum tipine göre gruplara ayrılan Akkeçi oğlaklarının rastgele seçilen bir grubu kastre edilmiştir. Böylece oluşturulan erkek, dişi ve kastra oğlak gruplarına aynı bölmelerde 100 gün süreyle ve belirli miktarda süt içirilmiş , ayrıca 2. haftadan başlıyarak kuru ot ve kesif yeme alıştırılmışlardır. Haftada bir yapılan tartım ile saptanan değerlerin analizi sonucu 8 . haftaya kadar gruplar arasında gelişme hızı yönünden bir farklılık olmadığı, 10. haftadan sonraki gelişme hızının erkek ve kastralarda farklı olmamasına karşılık her iki grubun dişilerden önemli düzeyde üstün gelişme hızı gösterdikleri ve bu üstünlüklerini deneme sonu olan 15. haftaya kadar sürdürdükleri anlaşılmıştır. Bazı önemli vücut ölçüleri de belirlenmiş ve sonuç olarak erken kastrasyonun süt içme döneminde büyüme performansına herhangi bir olumsuz etkisinin olmadığı saptanmıştır.
In order to find out the effects of early castration on the growth rate during the suckling period, randomly chosen group of kids were castrated by burdizzo clamps in the end of first week after birth. There groups of animals e.i. males, females and castrates were seperately penned and bottle fed for about 100 day. Satrling from the second week they were also given concentrate mixlure and alfalfa hay. They had free access to water. Body weights were taken every two weeks and so me body measurements were taken monthly. There were no differences between the groups during the first 8 week of the study with respect to growth rate. Between the 10 th to 15 th weeks the growth rate of the males and castrotes were significantly grater then the growth rate of females, although there were no significant differences between the first two groups.Results indicated that early castration did not have a negative effect on growth rate, hence castration of surplus males as early as one week can be recommended.
