Abstract

The concept of manufacture and consumption has undergone a complete change thanks to the innovations in fields of technology achieved by today’s societies. With this new formation, people have chosen to express themselves by meta-products they are using, which differs from the previous situation. A great contribution to this inclination in people’s behavior has been made by the ‘behavior-regulating’ advertisement industry, which gives this value to the metaproducts. Hovewer, exchange values of the meta-products are being stressed instead of their use value. Using this value concept, the ways of living of high culture and its value systems are tried to be imposed on target societies. It is observed that circled all around by meta values, the meta-addict societies exposed to this trend are being converted, as Max Horkheimer put it, into a formative mentality automaton. The product exposition trend, completely embracing the areas of social life, has made such an outcome inevitable.
