Abstract
Bu çalışma, ilköğretim öğrencilerinin nirengi noktası algılarını belirlemek amacıyla yapılmıştır. Çalışma Türkiye’de 8 ilden seçilen (Şanlıurfa, Ardahan, Afyonkarahisar, Adana, Çorum, Kırşehir, Ankara, Aksaray) 1025 öğrenci ile gerçekleştirilmiştir. Öğrenciler, farklı yerleşim birimlerinde ikamet etmekte (köy, kasaba, şehir), farklı sınıf düzeylerinde bulunmakta (6, 7 ve 8. sınıf) ve farklı ekonomik özelliklere sahip bulunmaktadırlar. Araştırma kapsamında hazırlanan ölçme aracı 2010 Mart-Mayıs döneminde uygulanmıştır. Veriler nitel araştırma yöntemleri ile elde edilmiş olup, çalışma betimsel tarama modelinde desenlenmiştir. Ölçme aracı, açık uçlu sorulardan oluşmaktadır. Öğrencilerin verdikleri cevaplar betimsel olarak analiz edilmiştir. Çalışma sonucunda, 6, 7 ve 8. sınıf öğrencilerinin Türkiye’de ve Dünyada önem verdikleri yerler belirlenmiştir. Bulgular, ilköğretim dönemindeki öğrencilere mekânın öğretiminde yol gösterici olması bakımından önemlidir.
This study was conducted to determine landmark perception of elementary school students. The study was implemented with 1025 students from 8 cities (Şanlıurfa, Ardahan, Afyonkarahisar, Adana, Çorum, Kırşehir, Ankara, Aksaray) in Turkey. The students lived in different settlements (village, town, and city), being in different grade levels (6, 7 and 8th) and being in different economic features. The measurement tool prepared for this study applied in the period from March to May 2010. The study was designed as descriptive method and qualitative research method was used. The data were obtained with qualitative research methods, and the study designed as a descriptive survey method. Measurement tool was prepared in the form of open-ended questions and answers were analyzed in accordance with qualitative research methods. At the end of the study, it was determined that the places that 6, 7 and 8th grade students’ give importance in Turkey and around the world. Findings are important in terms of leading in teaching geographical space for students in primary education.
