Item Blockchain-based E-commerce: An evaluation(Bursa Uludağ Üniversitesi, 2022-12-09) Aydoğan, Ebru; Aydemir, Muhammed Fatih; Bursa Uludağ Üniversitesi/Sosyal Bilimler Meslek Yüksekokulu/Dış Ticaret Bölümü.; Bursa Uludağ Üniversitesi.; 0000-0003-4377-712X; 0000-0002-4248-9057The e-commerce sector has grown beyond predictions with the help of the most recent technological developments, changes in consumer preferences, and the COVID-19 pandemic. E-commerce activities assume a subsidiary role of brick-and-mortar shops with the benefits it offers to all parties, which have also resulted in new problems such as privacy, security, transparency, and costs, unlike traditional businesses. Blockchain technology is among the promising technologies in solving the problems of the e-commerce sector with its decentralized structure that does not require third-party intermediaries, and its features (such as privacy, immutability, security, transparency, and auditability). In this study—which examines, under five titles, the benefits that blockchain can offer to e-commerce—it is concluded that blockchain can reshape e-commerce activities by enabling integrated e-commerce systems that include all parties and offering low transaction costs, high transaction speed, traceability of transactions, strong security standards, and low risks. In this direction, blockchain-based ecommerce platforms can push existing e-commerce platforms into the background.Item Negotiating heroism in ben fountain’s Billy Lynn’s long halftime walk(Bursa Uludağ Üniversitesi, 2022-09-29) Alosman, M. İkbal M.; Sabtan, YasserThis paper examines Ben Fountain’s Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk apropos heroism/post-heroism within the context of the 2003 Iraq War. The paper aims to uncover the novel’s approach to soldiers’ behavior on the battlefield, their perspectives on war, and how the American public interacts with their endeavors. While heroism celebrates acts of bravery and chivalry, post-heroism signals the decline of heroic ethos in the context of war, where soldiers are left to question the actual value of sacrifice on the battlefield. We make the argument through two constructs: “unheroic actions,” which addresses soldiers’ behavior in war, and “clash of perceptions,” which discusses soldiers’ versus the public’s perspectives on heroism and war. Though the novel’s setting serves to celebrate soldiers’ gallant feet in war, Fountain ridicules such heroic rhetoric throughout the novel and demonstrates how soldiers are reluctant to accept the public overenthusiasm about war and their status as war heroes.Item Three generations, three perspectives: Islamists’ discussions on “Islamic civilization” in Türkiye(Bursa Uludağ Üniversitesi, 2022-07-22) Durmaz, İbrahim; Bursa Uludağ Üniversitesi/İktisadi ve İdari Bilimler Fakültesi/Siyaset Bilimi ve Kamu Yönetimi Bölümü.; 0000-0003-0403-8017This article examines the use of “Islamic civilization” by Muslim thinkers, undoubtedly, one of the most controversial concept for contemporary Islamic Thought in Türkiye. The main argument of the article is that the Islamic civilization discourse has evolved from an eclectic/defensive perception of civilization to an otherizing/exclusionist position, and from an otherizing political style to ontological awareness, over three generations of Muslim intellectuals in Türkiye. This process of change can be observed in the writings of firstgeneration Muslim intellectuals such as Mehmet Akif Ersoy, Şehbenderzade Filibeli Ahmet Hilmi; secondgeneration such as Necip Fazıl Kısakürek, Nurettin Topçu, and especially Sezai Karakoç, and third-generation intellectuals such as İsmet Özel and Ali Bulaç. Thesis aims to make a small contribution to the roadmap of the concept of "Islamic civilization" in Türkiye, based on the writings of the abovementioned thinkers.
