Item The budget of the European Union and green energy: Perceptions, actions, and challenges(Bursa Uludağ Üniversitesi, 2021-05-20) Cengiz, Çağdaş; Kutlu, ErdiThe European Green Deal has expanded the climate perspective of the European Union (EU) and put a sustainable and environmentally friendly energy strategy at the centre. For the first time in the history of the EU integration, the EU budget has been designed for prioritizing the climate strategy and conditioned in accordance with the climate targets. Within this context, in this study, the common budget priorities, Green Deal targets and internal/external challenges of the EU are addressed together, aiming to answer the questions to what extent the global climate change is perceived as an emergency by the EU and whether the EU’s green transformation approach is sufficient and applicable. The study is conducted in the light of current literature and data on the EU’s climate approach and financing instruments in order to answer these questions. The study concludes that although the climate model reflected in the EU’s new budget is an important step in combating the climate crisis, difficulties could not be overcome due to the intra-EU dynamics/lack of consensus, and unless a systemic transition in a global sense takes place, the dramatic transformation targeted by the Green Deal would remain discursively assertive, but actionally ambiguous.Item Information, media and technology skills of sport sciences students(Bursa Uludağ Üniversitesi, 2021-03-20) Hazar, Esin; Özkurt, BurhanAlthough there have been initiatives for students to acquire proper 21st century skills in association with technology in Turkey for a long time, research on the information, media and technology skills of sport sciences undergraduates is limited. This study examines the competency levels of sport science undergraduates on information, media and technology skills, and the relationship between their competency levels and certain variables such as gender, departments, grades, personal computer (PC) possession and internet access. In the process of the implementation of the Information, Media and Technology Skills Competency scale, the sample of the study was composed of 298 sport sciences undergraduates. In the analysis of the data obtained from the scale, frequency, percentage, arithmetic mean and standard deviation values were used in the central and prevalence measurements. According to the results of the scale; sport sciences undergraduate students considered themselves to be moderate in their information, media and technology skills. While the highest score of the students was of communication and collaboration; programming skills were emerged as the weakest dimension. It was found that there are significant correlations between their competency levels and certain variables such as grade, PC possession and internet access.Item Measuring the influence of workplace design on job satisfaction and perceived productivity: A research on university employees(Bursa Uludağ Üniversitesi, 2021-04-11) Taşkın, Dilek; Taşkın, Çağatan; Bursa Uludağ Üniversitesi/Orhaneli Meslek Yüksek Okulu/Büro Yönetimi ve Yönetici Asistanlığı Programı.; Bursa Uludağ Üniversitesi/İktisadi ve İdari Bilimler Fakültesi/İşletme Bölümü.; 0000-0003-2379-9698; 0000-0002-0655-5061Employee job satisfaction and productivity of employees are so crucial for companies since many years. Both of them may either lead to higher performance, increased profit or lower performance, increased turnover rate and etc. That’s why, understanding the antecedents of both job satisfaction and productivity, and exploring the influence of those antecedents on job satisfaction and productivity have been important research areas since many years. According to the literature, workplace design is one of the most important factors affecting job satisfaction and productivity of employees. The aim of this study is to measure the impact of workplace design (office layout and physical environment) on job satisfaction and perceived employee productivity by means of structural equation modeling in a public university and to suggest strategies. The research was conducted on employees of Bursa Uludağ University. Face-to-face questionnaire was used as the data collection method. Convenience sampling was chosen as the sampling method. 290 surveys were confirmed for testing the model. Research findings indicate that two dimensions of workplace design were found to have influences on job satisfaction and job satisfaction was found to have an important influence on perceived productivity of employees.Item Tandoorı houses in Kesendere Village, Başkale(Bursa Uludağ Üniversitesi, 2020-12-15) Buğrul, HasanIn this study, Kesendere, a village in Başkale District of Van province, was selected as the field of the study. In this village and its surroundings, beside a travertine and two dragon-shaped rocks, four Tandoori houses, which are still in good condition and which were built by the same stone master, were examined. These structures were built approximately 140 years ago. The biggest of these was converted to a sheep pen a few years ago. The others, besides being used as cellars, are also used as houses where tandoori bread is baked and dairy products such as cheese and yogurt are processed. When compared with the Tandoori houses in the Eastern Anatolia Region, those in Kesendere village are generally more similarities to those in Muş and Van in terms of both function and their domes. In addition to the cultural assets such as Tandoori houses in Kesendere village and its surroundings and the natural assets such as dragon-shaped rocks which are correlated with petrifaction legends, the travertine near this village also has a great potential in terms of tourism and cultural heritage. The aim of this study was to direct readers’ attention to the overall cultural and natural heritage of Kesendere village and neighbouring areas, as well as to contribute to their preservation and to present the associated culture to future generations.
