Abstract

Bu çalışmada Osmanlı Devleti’nin ilk başkenti olan Bursa’nın çekirdeği durumundaki Hisar’ın klâsik Osmanlı dönemindeki durumu ele alınmıştır. Hisar yıkıcı muharebeler olmaksızın teslim alındığından Bizanslılarca inşa edilen şekliyle Osmanlılar’a geçmiştir. Rumlar’ın boşalttığı şehre Türkler’in yerleştirilmesinin ardından öncelikle devlet erkânınca başlatılan imar faaliyetleriyle Hisar, kısa zamanda Türk-İslâm çehresi kazanmıştır.
This study deals with the situation of Hisar which was the core of Bursa, the first Ottoman capital, in the Ottoman classical period. Hisar was conquered by the Ottomans without any devastating battles as it had been built by Byzantines. After being left by Greeks and Turks settled, Hisar gained a Turkish-Islamic identity in a short time through the construction activities and public works initiated by statesmen. Because of the sense of security which is the result of being surrounded by ramparts, it remained a preferable district by the elite people even after the city grew and expanded. Therefore, the families that contributed to improvement of Hisar were significant people who played important roles in the history of Bursa. Because of the fact that finding a suitable land to build a house gradually become difficult due to the great demand, the vertical housing gained speed in Hisar. Clothes or cuisine did not naturally have a significant difference from the other parts of the city. But Hisar seemed one step ahead in education because of the high rate of schooling. Containing some state buildings such as mint, palace etc. is the distinctive feature which puts Hisar forward among other districts. As a conclusion, it may be said that Hisar became a distinguished district of Bursa, where Byzantine and Ottoman cultures were mixed, in the sense of both the institutions and buildings it had, and the inhabitants.
