Abstract
Erdem etiği diğer etik türlerinden farklı olarak, ahlaki hayatın belirleyici unsurları olan failin karakterine ve erdeme vurgu yapar. Erdem etiği temelde ‘iyi hayat’ üzerine yoğunlaşarak, bireylerin ne tür insanlar olmaları gerektiği konusuyla ilgilenir. Erdem etiği söz konusu olduğunda Aristoteles önemli bir değer taşır. Biliyoruz ki Aristoteles’in felsefede yadsınamaz bir yeri vardır. Felsefe tarihi boyunca birçok düşünür, filozof ondan etkilenmiştir. Bazıları ise onun düşüncelerini eleştirerek yahut reddederek yola çıkmıştır. Platon’un öğrencisi olan Aristoteles, hocası ve öncesindeki filozofların düşüncelerini sistematik bir bütünlük içerisinde değerlendirmiş ve kendi düşüncelerini, oluşturduğu sistemle bağlantılı olarak ortaya koymuştur. Bu sebeple Aristoteles sistem düşünürü olarak da adlandırılmıştır. Bu çalışmada, temel kabul edilmiş bir filozof olan Aristoteles’in erdem etiği konu edinilmiştir. Erdem etiğinin oluşumunun ve yapısının ele alınması amaçlanmıştır. Erdem nedir? Aristoteles erdemleri niçin entelektüel erdemler ve ahlaki erdemler olarak ikiye ayırmıştır? Erdem kazanılabilir mi yoksa harici bir kaynaktan mı gelir? Bu makalede Aristoteles’in erdem etiği konusundaki görüşleri bu sorular üzerinden ortaya konulmuştur.
Virtue ethics, differently from other types of ethics, emphasises subject’s character which is determining factor of ethical life and virtue. Basically, virtue ethics is concerned with what kind of people they should be by focusing over “good life’’. When it comes to virtue ethics, Aristotle carries value. As we know, Aristotle has an undeniable place in philosophy. Throughout the history of philosophy, a lot of thinkers and philosophers are affected by Aristotle. On the other hand, some of them go ahead by criticising or denying his thoughts. Aristotle, who sat at Platon’s feet, systematically evaluated thoughts of both his tutor and philosophers before him and he revealed his own thoughts in connection with the system he created. That’s why Aristotle is also named as a system philosopher. In this study, the subject of virtue ethics of Aristotle, who is a fundamental philosopher, has been considered. The aim of this study is to examine the formation and structure of virtue ethics. What is the virtue? Why did Aristotle divide the virtues into two as intellectual virtues and moral ethics. Does virtue win or come from an external source? In this article, Aristotle’s views on virtue ethics are put forward through these questions.
