Abstract
Genelde ahiret hayatının, özelde ise inanmayanlar için Cehennem hayatının sonlu olup olmadığı meselesi, kelâmın ilk temsilcileriyle beraber İslâm düşüncesinde yerini bulmuştur. Bu noktada Kur’ân-ı Kerîm’de ahiret hayatına ve bunun niteliğine sıkça yapılan vurguları göz önünde bulundurmak gerekir. Genel olarak, gerek sünnî çizgiye mensup olanların gerekse diğer fırkaların inanmayanlar için azabın sonsuz olacağına inandıkları bilinmektedir. Ancak tarih içerisinde farklı düşünen alimler ortaya çıkmış ve belli bazı dönemlerde bu konu daha bir önem kazanmıştır. Bu makalede, söz konusu genel kanaatten ayrı yaklaşımların, bu konu özelinde de bir örneğini teşkil eden İbn Teymiyye ve İbn Kayyım el-Cevziyye’nin “hümanist” diye nitelenebilecek bir bakış açısı sundukları, İzmirli İsmail Hakkı gibi modern dönemdeki İslâmcı düşünürlerin de, makalenin konusunu oluşturan risalede görüleceği üzere, Batılı değerler karşısında bu bakış açısını tekrar gündeme getirdikleri gösterilmeye çalışılacaktır.
Among mutakallimun the problem of endlessness of the life in Hell for those who are not Muslim has been discussed in Islamic thought from the second century of the Hijra till our century. At this point it is crucial to remember that the Quran attaches a great deal of importance to the life in Hereafter and its characteristics. Generally, it is also known that either Ahl alSunna or other heretic doctrines in Islam have come to believe that torment and suffering in Hell will never stop for unbelievers. However throughout the history of Islamic thought, even in Sunni doctrine, there were some other ulama who thought differently and in some periods this issue gained more importance among Muslim scholars. In this article it is stated that two important scholars of salafi movement, Ibn Taymiyya and Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyya had a point of view which can be described as “humanist approach” in terms of this issue. It is also demonstrated that one of the leading Turkish Islamic thinkers in the twentieth century, Izmirli Ismail Hakki applied this approach to one of his writings about the endlessness of Hell, especially because of the western values arose at that time.
