Abstract
Bu makale, dinler arasındaki ilişki problemini tartışır. Yazar bunu üç merhalede inceler. Anlam dünyası başlığı altında o, kendi “anlam dünyamızın”, kültürel ve dinî geleneğimizde içkin olan dünya görüşümüze yakınlığını araştırır. İkinci olarak Kitagawa, tarihi hafızanın direnişini –Haçlı Savaşları gibi– dikkate almaksızın, günümüzdeki Hıristiyanlık ve diğer dinler arasındaki ilişkinin giriftliğini anlamaya başlayamayacağımızı vurgular. Yazara göre, her dinin merkezinde, kutsal hakikat tecrübesinin bulunduğunu ancak geleneksel Hıristiyan terminolojisinde Theos olarak atıfta bulunulanın, [başka dinlerde] tanrı, kutsal, numen, tao ya da nirvana şeklinde anlaşıldığını aklımızdan çıkarmamalıyız. Ancak kutsal yani teos tecrübesi, sembol ve ritüellerle birlikte iman dili olan mitos aracılığı ile ifade edilir. İnsan zekası zamanla mitostaki anlam modelini, logosu ayırt eder.
This paper discusses the problem of relationship among religions. The writer studies that in three steps. Under the heading of world of meaning, he investigates that our own “world of meaning” approximates world-view implicit in our culturel and religious tradition. Secondly, Kitagawa emphasizes that unless we appreciate the tenacity of historic memories –as Crusade– we can not begin to understand the complexity of the relationship between Christianity and other religions in our time. According to Kitagawa, we must bear in mind that, at the center of every religion, there is the experience of sacral reality, however it is understood as god, sacred, numen, tao or nirvana, which is referred to as theos in the traditional Christian termiology. But the experience of the holy, the theos can be expressed only in terms of mythos which is the language of faith, together with rituals and symbols. It is the human intellect which in turn discerns the pattern of meaning, logos in the mythos.
