Abstract
Çağdaş literatüre göre, felsefe tarihinde iki ayrı temsil kuramı mevcuttur: i) Benzerlikçi Temsil Kuramı ve (ii) Nedenselci Temsil Kuramı. İlk bölümde ve ikinci bölümde, çağdaş literatürde ele alınan şekliyle ikinci kuramın ilk kuramı nasıl altüst ettiğini aktarmaya çalışacağım. Üçüncü bölümde ise, literatürdeki yaygın kanının aksine Nedenselci Kuram’ın Benzerlikçi Kuram’a yönelttiği eleştirilerdeki zayıflıklara ve yer yer hatalara işaret edeceğim. Benim görüşüme göre, Benzerlikçi Kuram eksik olabilir, hatta bir çok açıdan hatalı yanları da olabilir; fakat Nedenselcilerin Benzerlikçilere yönelttiği eleştiri okları ayrıntılı bir şekilde ele alındığında aslında hiç bir okun hedefi vuramadığı görülecektir.
According to the contemporary literature, there are two different theories of representation in the history of philosophy: (i) Resemblance Theory of Representation and (ii) Causal Theory of Representation. In the first and second parts, I will try to explain, as it stands in the contemporary literature, how the latter brings down the fall of the former. In the third part, contrary to the received view in the literature, I will point out some of the weaknesses and sometimes errors in the arguments of the Causal Theory against the Resemblance Theory. According to my view, Resemblance Theory might be incomplete, it could have false aspects in many ways; but when the criticism addressed by the Causal Theorists against the Resemblance Theorists is treated in detail, it will become clear that none of the arguments really hits the target.
