Abstract

Sarı yapışkan tuzak uygulamasının, A. obtectus mücadelesinde deltamethrin kadar etkili olmadığı tespit edilmiştir.
Bean weevil Acanthoscelides obtectus (SAY) (Coleoptera: Bruchidae) is one of the most important species causing economic damage to Phaseolus vulgaris L. (Fabales: Fabaceae) seeds, especially in the Mediterranean region. Fumigants such as methyl bromide and phosphine or synthetic insecticides are often used to combat pests in warehouses. These chemicals are harmful to the natural environment. Alternative methods that can replace chemical applications should be developed to protect the environment and to prevent economic loss in products. In this thesis, deltamethrin, which is a synthetic pyrethroid, and yellow sticky traps were used against A. obtectus pest in bean seed storage. During the eight-month trial, the average in-store temperature was set at 19±4 °C and the mean humidity at %58±4. As a result of this study conducted in Tetova of Macedonia, the average ratios of damaged bean seeds in warehouses treated with delthametrin was 3.55% while in nonsprayed warehouses was 42.5%. At the end of 8 months, the lowest total weight loss (5.76%) of bean seeds was found in the test rooms where deltamethrin was applied. In rooms without spraying, the average weight loss is 37.8%. It was found that the application of yellow sticky trap was not as effective as deltamethrin in the control of A. obtectus. However, the mean weight loss was 19.67% in the areas where yellow sticky traps were applied and it was lower than the control rooms. New studies should be carried out to develop alternative methods that can replace chemical applications.
