Abstract
Bu tez, Hobbes'un insanı ele alma tarzına yönelik eleştirel bir bakış getirmeyi amaçlamaktadır. Şüphesiz felsefe tarihi boyunca filozoflar insana ilişkin farklı yaklaşımlar ortaya koymuştur. Bu noktada, insana bakışta iki ana eğilimin olduğu söylenebilir. Filozoflar çoğu zaman olduğu gibi ya insanı parçalayarak ya da bütün olarak iki farklı şekilde ele almıştır. İnsanı parçalayarak ele alan filozoflardan biri de Hobbes'tur. Kendisinden önceki filozoflardan farklı olarak Hobbes ruhu ve bedeni nitelikleri bakımından birbirinden ayırmamıştır. Ona göre ruh ve bedenin her ikisi birer cisimdir. Bu bağlamda Hobbes'un insanlığın tarihini, doğal durum ve toplumsal durum şeklinde ikiye ayırdığı görülür. Doğal durumdaki insanı, bir bütün olarak insanın kendisi kabul eden Hobbes, insana ilişkin tüm verileri de insanlığın bir anından (doğal durumdan) hareketle ortaya koyar. Devleti ve yasaları da belli bir hale girmiş insanlığın doğal durumundan hareketle inşa eder. Oysa doğal durum, insanın yalnızca bir halidir. Toplumsal durum ise insanın başka bir halidir. Bundan dolayı, Hobbes'un insanı yeniden ele alması gerekir. Ama o, doğal durumdan insanı türetme yoluna gitmiştir. Sonuç olarak ortaya güç merkezli bir devlet anlayışı koymuştur. Bu anlayış, günümüzdeki devlet- birey algılarını da etkilemektedir. Fakat insan olmuş ya da bitmiş bir varlık değildir. Devlet de insandan bağımsız, kendi başına bir varlık değildir. Bu tezin Giriş Bölümü'nde, Hobbes öncesi filozofların insanı ele alma tarzları incelenmiştir. Birinci Bölüm'de Hobbes'un felsefesine genel bir bakış yöneltilmiştir. İkinci Bölüm'de insanlığın doğal durumu, Üçüncü Bölüm'de ise toplumsal duruma ilişkin görüşleri ortaya konmuştur. Sonuç Bölüm'ünde felsefi antropoloji temelinde, Hobbes'un insanı ele alma tarzı eleştirilmiş, bu tarzın günümüz birey-devlet ilişkisindeki sonuçları değerlendirilmiştir.
The purpose of this thesis is to bring a critical view to Hobbes' way of dealing with human being. Undoubtedly, throughout the history of philosophy, philosophers have brought different approaches to human being. At this point, it can be said that there are two main trends in viewing human. Philosophers have seen human being as pieces or as a whole. Hobbes is one of the philosophers who take human being in pieces. Unlike the previous philosophers, Hobbes did not distinguish the soul and the body in regard of their qualities. According to him, both soul and body are objects. In this context Hobbes seems to divide the history of mankind into two: the natural condition and the communal condition. He reveals all data about human from the natural condition. He builds the state and laws by looking at the moment (natural condition) of mankind entering a certain condition. However, the natural condition is only one moment of human being. The communal condition is another one. Therefore Hobbes should reconsider human being in the communal condition. But he has gone to the way of deriving human from the natural condition. As a result, he arrived at a power-centered state view. This understanding also influences today's state-individual perceptions. But human is not a finished or completed being. Human being has possibilities. The state has not come into being by itself, it is a product of human being. In the introductory chapter, the ways pre-Hobbes philosophers take up human being have been examined. In the first chapter Hobbes' philosophy in general has been viewed. In the second chapter his view on the natural condition, in the third chapter his view on the communal condition have been examined. In the conclusion chapter, Hobbes' method of dealing with human being has been criticized and the results of this method on the today's individual-state relation have been evaluated.
